Fruits of Ra Slot Review
Fruits of Ra is an old-school slot from Playson. As the name suggests, it has a slight flavour of ancient Egypt but in reality it’s a classic fruit machine. It’s not to be confused with Novomatic’s Book of Ra Deluxe though. Anyway, you can play it from 5p up to £25 per spin.
This 5 reel, 5 payline offering is all about the fast-paced base game – Fruits of Ra reminds me of the classic Cleopatra by IGT in terms of how fast it spins and plays out. It offers very little in the way of features though – in fact the only bonus offering is a Gamble feature which is offered after every winning spin.
Even that is a pretty standard affair, offering the chance to double your winning for correctly identifying the colour of the next playing card. Guess the suit and you can quadruple your win. You may gamble up to 10 times in a row if so inclined. And that’s about it as far as features are concerned. There are no free spins, multipliers, pick me rounds or multi-level bonus features.
The reels are filled with a selection of fruit including cherries, oranges, lemons, grapes and plums as well as number 7s. The Beetle acts as the wild and substitutes for every other symbol apart from the Star which acts as the scatter.
The biggest payer is the 7. Find 5 in a payline and you’ll win 5,000 times your stake. The melon and grapes come next, offering 1,000 times your stake payouts if you’re lucky to find 5 in a row. The variance is in the medium range, offering a balance of payouts.
The graphics are very simple but easy on the eye. The reels are set against an ancient Egyptian backdrop that include pillars covered in hieroglyphics. It’s all complemented by an Arabic-themed soundtrack. Fruits of Ra keeps things very simple in terms of both looks and gameplay. The graphics are pretty basic and are matched by a game engine that offers the bare minimum in terms of features.
This lack of extras may not appeal to modern converts to online slots who’ve become accustomed to sleek graphics and complex bonus features. Old school players after some nostalgia may find more to enjoy here though. If you’re looking for bonus features and something a bit more modern, Playson offer plenty of other games such as Wild Hunter and Eastern Delights which are high variance titles.
