Epic Dreams uses Tumbling Reels, also known as Cascading Reels. All winning symbols disappear from the grid as new ones tumble from above. Epic Dreams is an excellently designed slot machine, with 3D graphics, a soothing-yet-epic backdrop, and an animated mascot sitting alongside the reels at all times. Even the soundtrack is well considered. It gives me vibes of a Pixar film about a family vacation, like an animated twist on National Lampoons, and I love it. Epic Dreams Mobile
Despite the size of the Epic Dreams grid, it looks great on mobile and should work across all designs. You lose a little of the experience when it’s streamlined, but it’s still an excellent slot and I enjoyed the experience at UK mobile casinos.
Epic Dreams Bonus Features
There are a couple of features here, some of which are tied to the Tumbling Reels feature, which is active throughout the base game.
Bonus Pick
Bonus Pick triggers when all of the stone blocks are destroyed in the course of Tumbling Reels. Once active, you can pick from the Build Bonus or Dig Bonus. Destroy Super Blocks to unlock the Super Bonus options, which are better versions of the below.
Dig Bonus
A free spins round that gives you 5 spins to begin with, plus an additional spin for every 3rd block you destroy. There are 4 block rows at the start of every spin and if you destroy 50 of these, you’ll see a square for 5,000x. On winning this, the feature will end as it’s the maximum amount that the game offers.
Build Bonus
You will get 3 spins and must fill a row with a single symbol. When you win, the spin counter resets to 3. There’s also a multiplier that starts at 1x and climbs every time one of the rows is destroyed. As above, if you destroy 50 you can win the maximum payout of 5,000x.
Epic Dreams Verdict: excellent design supported by great features
Epic Dreams is one of the best-looking slots I have encountered in recent years. It really does look like an animation film, which is a credit to the hard work of Relax Gaming’s development team. The addition of Tumbling Reels and an expanding grid adds to the experience, as this is my personal favourite feature. The free spin features on top of that are the icing on the cake.
The only downside is that the symbols don’t pay a lot, but that’s to be expected from a Tumbling Reels game. They are also rather simply designed, but I feel like I’d be doing the developers a disservice if I picked on the design.
