The design here is very nicely done – there’s an almost Viking feel about the imagery. With an underground railroad in the background, the white reels include A to 10 playing cards, a lamp and goggles. The best of the standard symbols is the hammer which pays 240 coins if you land 5 on a payline. More rewarding is the standard wild which pays 40, 100 or 320 coins if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a line. That’s not the only wild you’ll see spinning round the reels though. There are 3 more, each of which can trigger a mini feature.
Land the Dragon Wild and the Redbeard Wild on the same spin and the Dragon will breathe fire onto poor old Redbeard. He’ll scuttle off the reels and leave a trail of wilds in his wake. A new payout is then made with the extra wilds in position.
Land the Dragon Wild and the Treasure Strike Wild (the 1 with the red gemstone) and the Dragon breathes fire onto the treasure and multiplies it. Once again, a new payout is made.
The final wild extra hits when you land the Redbeard Wild and the Treasure Strike Wild on the same spin. Redbeard jumps onto the treasure, starts digging and in the process, collects an instant win coin prize.
The game also comes with a more traditional feature round, the Treasure Run feature – it’s triggered in the usual manner by landing 3 of the bonus symbol. Redbeard hops into a cart and rides along the railroad, collecting gemstones as he goes. Each stone awards a prize – keep collecting until you reach the end of the line. You can win up to 1,000 times your total stake here.
Treasure Mine is a pretty simple game. The main action comes via the trio of wild extras which can deliver some impressive action. The picks round isn’t serviceable too. The glaring omission here of course is the lack of any free spins.
If you don’t mind missing out on free spins there’s just about enough on offer to make Treasure Mine worth a look. It’s not the most exciting of Red Tiger Gaming’s games but the excellent design and regularly hitting wild extras make this a playable game. I would also recommend Aristocrat’s Where’s The Gold and NetEnt’s Boom Brothers if you like the mining theme.
