There’s a cartoon feel to the design in Tiki Fruits. The reels are set against a beachside backdrop and are flanked by torches and a pair of totems. The reel grid is made up of a selection of classic fruit machine symbols. You’ll see cherries, lemons, oranges, grapes and melons as well as dice, bells, stars, diamonds and lucky 7s.
Winning combinations are created by landing clusters of matching symbols. These clusters can be created horizontally or vertically. After a winning combination lands, those symbols are removed from the reels and new symbols drop in and replace them. These symbol drops continue as long as the new winning cluster is formed. The best paying symbol is the lucky 7 - land 31 or more of them and you’ll pocket an award of 777 times your stake.
To the side of the reels you’ll see a selection of meters. Whenever you land a winner made up of a fruit symbol, it’s collected in its meter. Fill the meter and a special prize is awarded. All meters are cleared following a symbol drop spin.
The coconut cocktail symbol is the bonus. Fill the meter with these to trigger the Tiki Spins feature - on offer here are a random amount of free spins. Meters don’t revert back to zero following a losing symbol drop here which boosts your chances of landing a special bonus prize. The totems can also whirl into life and remove even more symbols from the reels to give you extra chances to land a winning combo.
Tiki Fruits is a pretty simple game. The visuals are bright and colourful and there’s a jaunty backing track playing as you spin. The gameplay is rather basic too. You can expect a steady stream of action thanks to the cluster pays game engine. We found the Tiki Spins feature quite hard to come by though. The results when we did trigger it were decidedly mixed too. At times we did well enough, on other occasions we whiffed completely.
Tiki Fruits looks and sounds very good. We didn’t thing the gameplay matched the high spec design though. If you like cluster pays slots, then by all means dive in. It’s not a game we’ll be rushing back to though. If you like the theme however, Easter Island from Yggdrasil Gaming offers more.
