Based on the adventures of the classic French noblemen, Three Musketeers is a 5 reel, 40 payline slot from Red Tiger Gaming. Featuring high-end sound and visuals, the game comes with trail, wheel spin and offer bonus feature rounds. Join Porthos, Athos and Aramis from between 20p and £500 per spin.
The design in Three Musketeers has a real Gallic feel – expect cries of “bonjour”, “salut” and “tres bien” whenever Porthos, Athos and Aramis hit the reels. Joining the lower value playing card suits are tankards of ale, dandyish hats, swords and a fleur de lis – land 5 of the latter for a 200 coin payout.
There’s also a wild that replaces all other symbols and offers payouts of 60, 120 or 300 coins if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline. That’s not the only wild though – the Porthos, Athos and Aramis symbols can all deliver wilds too.
You’ll notice each Musketeer has his own meter to the right of the reels – every time the Musketeer lands, he will toss a feather into the meter. The number of feathers depends on which reel he lands on. For example, an Athos on reel 1 awards 1 feather in the Athos meter. A Porthos on reel 5 adds 5 feathers to the Porthos meter. Once you’ve fill a meter you’ll trigger the associated bonus feature:
Bar Bonus feature – collect Porthos symbols and you’ll trigger this variation on the cash trail. Choose symbols to move along the board until you reach a final destination and a cash bonus.
Wheel Bonus feature – this is Aramis’s bonus. It’s a spin the wheel game which awards multiplier prizes and spin agains depending on where the arrow lands.
Offer Bonus feature – once you’ve gathered enough Athos symbols, you’ll trigger this round. Athos will make you a cash offer which you can accept or decline.
Collecting Musketeer symbols also increases the likelihood of landing special Musketeer wilds – these can land on any spin. Porthos adds lines of horizontal wilds, Aramis adds vertical stacks of wilds and Athos adds diagonal wilds.
Like many slots from Red Tiger Gaming, the bonus features can be tricky to land. The prizes on offer in the features can reach up to 2,000 times your total stake so can certainly be worth the wait. You won’t hit the max often but the awards are generally pretty good when you do hit a feature. We’d put the variance on the high side of medium.
Combining excellent HD design with some hard-hitting features, Three Musketeers is a very playable slot. Get lucky with those extras and it could be a case of “all for one and one for all”. If you like the theme, The Three Musketeers by Quickspin is recommended.
