Red Tiger Gaming has partnered with Novomatic to create Reel King Mega, another instalment in this popular regal-themed franchise. His majesty’s latest outing is played using a 5 reel, 20 payline machine. Look out for oversized symbols and the king’s crown that can bounce around the reels and turn symbols wild. The mini reels are in play here too to offer free spins. Play on all devices from between 20p and £200 per spin.
There’s a retro feel to the design here. On the reels you’ll see cherries, plums, 10, J, Q and K symbols. The top payer is the pot of gold coins. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these on a payline and you’ll receive a payout of 5, 10 or 25 times your stake. The jester’s hat is the wild- this substitutes for all symbols.
As well as single, all symbols can land in colossal formation stretching 2x2 which can quickly create some big potential wins. Reel King Mega comes with a couple of extras.
King’s Crown feature - on any spin, you could randomly see his majesty’s crown drop onto the reels. It will then bounce around the screen. Any symbol hit by the crown turns into a wild. A new payout calculation then follows with the wilds in place.
Reel King feature - you’ll notice that the reels can turn gold as well as their usual colour. When all 5 reels turn gold, you’ll trigger the Reel King feature. The portly monarch drops onto the screen, complete with a set of 3 mini reels in his belly. You can get 1 of each reel allowing for 5 mini reel games to take place.
These new reels are made up of blue, yellow and red 7s. Land any 3 of them for a payout of double your stake. Three blues pay 5 times your stake. Three yellows pay 10 times your stake with 3 reds awarding 25 times your stake. Your first spin in this round is guaranteed to be a winner. The free spins keep on coming until there’s one that contains a blank and doesn’t result in a win. You could win 125 times your stake in total per spin which is decent.
Reel King Mega is similar to the other slots in this series. The design feels decidedly old school, backed by a bangs and bleeps backing track. It’s certainly not the most sophisticated slot you’ll see on the visuals front. It’s a similar story with the features. It’s all rather jolly though and getting on a decent run with the mini reels run can deliver some good results.
Medium variance, you can win 500 times your stake if you fill the reels with pots of gold coins. This isn’t a game to consider if you’re after dazzling design or exotic gameplay. If you’ve enjoyed the other slots in the Reel King series, expect more of the same here. I would also suggest you try other Red Tiger Gaming slots with Devil’s Number my pick.
