The design in Pirates’ Plenty: The Sunken Treasure is very easy on the eye. The setting is the inside of a pirate ship that’s filled with chests full of treasure. On the reels you’ll see playing card suits set in gold coins plus a bottle of grog, muskets, a cannon and the captain’s hat. The best paying symbol is the skull. Land 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 of these and you’ll win 0.3, 2, 6, 20 or 50 times your stake.
A 6 in a line win? But this is only a 5 reel slot. Well, most of the time it is. Every time you land a treasure map symbol it’s collected. Once you fill up the meter, you’ll open up the Treasure Reel feature. Once active, this sixth reel will remain open as long as you stay at the same stake level. There are plenty of other extras on offer here alongside the Treasure Reel feature:
Wild Ships feature – these ships in a bottle symbols can fill whole reels and turn them wild. They can also come with a multiplier attached which can boost the payout by 2x, 3x or 5x. These are only in play when the Treasure Reel is active.
Wild Monkey feature – the cheeky ship’s monkey is the wild. Whenever he forms part of a winning line, you’ll be awarded a re-spin with all of the lower value coin symbols removed.
Ocean Spins feature – land 3 of the Ocean Spins scatter and you’ll be awarded 10 free spins. Look out here for the ghostly ship’s captain symbol. Whenever he lands. you’ll unlock 1 of the locks on the treasure chests above the reels. Once you’ve opened all 3 locks, you’ll receive extra free spins and 1 of the lower value playing card suit symbols will become wild.
The process is repeated for the other treasure chests. Unlock multiple chests and you’ll have plenty of extra wilds in play. Land 5 or 6 of these wilds on a payline and you’ll win an award of 20 or 50 times your stake.
We enjoyed this seafaring adventure. Red Tiger Gaming’s early releases were a little vanilla for our taste but the features on offer in Pirates’ Plenty: The Sunken Treasure deliver plenty of action. The sound and visuals are very nicely done too. These pirates seas can be a little choppy for your bankroll. This is a volatile game with top payouts of 5,000 times your stake on each spin involving the 5x multiplier.
If you don’t mind those potentially big swings, there’s plenty to enjoy here. Get lucky with the extras and Pirates’ Plenty: The Sunken Treasure can live up to its name. If you like the pirate theme, you should walk the plank with Quickspin’s Pirate’s Charm or Novomatic’s Red Lady.
