Red Tiger Gaming is giving Playtech a run for its money when it comes to Chinese-themed slots. Fortune House is a 5 reel, 20 payline game that comes with re-spins, randomly added mystery symbols, a Fortune Tree that creates winning combinations and a Dragon Wheel that awards multiplier prizes. Play from between 20p and £500 per spin.

As usual with Red Tiger Gaming powered slots, we have no complaints about the design of Fortune House – as you’d expect from a slot based on Chinese fortune, red and gold dominate the reels. The visuals have a traditional feel and include stylised playing cards next to statues of golden fish, dragons, a fat emperor and a coin. The Chinese letter character is the wild, offering payouts of up to 500 coins – it can land stacked and fill whole reels.

Fortune House comes with a quartet of mini features, each of which hits in the base game – they are as follows:

  • Fortune Respin feature – when the 2×2 Fortune Re-spin symbol hits, it will be frozen in place and you’ll be awarded a random number, but usually 2 re-spins.
  • Dragon Wheel feature – this is also a 2×2 symbol. When it lands, a pointer will spin. Depending on where it lands, you’ll be awarded a multiplier prize which is applied to your total stake.
  • Fortune Tree feature – this places a random assortment of symbols onto the reels to create a new and potentially lucrative winning combination.
  • Mystery Win feature – the giant gold frog is the Mystery Win symbol. When this hits, mystery rotating symbols are added throughout the reels to create a new winning selection.

We found the variance to be a bit lower than in some Red Tiger Gaming titles – the respins and Dragon Wheel come along at regular intervals and keep things ticking over. The Fortune Tree and Mystery Win features are more difficult to come by but can really deliver if the symbol swaps fall nicely.

There may be no free spins but if the Fortune Tree fires out some wilds followed by high value symbols, you’ll hardly notice. We won over 175 times our stake after 1 especially impressive shake of the Fortune Tree! Well-designed as usual and offering a nice range of features, Fortune House is a welcome addition to the packed Chinese-themed slots category. I recommend you try Red Phoenix Rising which is excellent.
