An enchanted forest is the setting for Elven Magic, a feature-heavy, fantasy themed slot from Red Tiger Gaming. Played using a 5 reel, 20 payline game engine, it comes with a quartet of randomly triggered base game extras. Trigger the bonus feature and you’ll get to take aim at payouts of up to 1,000 times your total stake. Play from between 20p and £500 per spin.
Like most slots from this developer, the design in Elven Magic is impressive – a lush green woodland forms the backdrop to the plain white reels. Symbols on view include playing card suits, a gold ring, a gemstone necklace, a quiver full of arrows and the elven queen. 3, 4 or 5 of her on a payline pays 3, 8 or 15 times your total stake.
More valuable still is the golden shield – it replaces all other symbols apart from the bonus and offers payouts of 6, 12 or 50 times your total bet. There are 4 mini features that can trigger at random on any base game spin:
- Arrow of Wild feature – the Elf Queen fires her arrow at the reels, causing a random selection of symbols to spin. This will create a new winning combination.
- Arrow of Nature feature – the Queen’s arrows cause a random selection of symbols to turn wild. A new payout is made with the new wilds in position.
- Arrow of Ice feature – a selection of symbols are frozen in position. A re-spin then follows.
- Arrow of Fire feature – land this and a random selection of symbols will catch fire before being transformed into new symbols. Once again, a new payout is made with the new combination on view.
Land 3 Bonus symbols (the target) and you’ll trigger the Archery Bonus feature – once triggered, pick from the 3 quivers to reveal how many arrows you’ll get. The Elf Queen will then take aim at the archery target. Depending on where the arrow lands, a prize is awarded.
The outer ring awards prizes worth 1, 2, 5 or 6 times your total stake. The second ring pays 6, 8, 10 or 12 times your bet with the third paying 18, 20, 28 or 30x. Land a bullseye and you’ll win a prize worth 500 times your total bet. After you’ve fired all of your arrows, the total values are added together and applied to your total stake per spin. Prizes of up to 1,000 times your total bet can be won here.
Despite the lack of free spins, we found Elven Magic to be 1 of Red Tiger Gaming’s most enjoyable offerings. The glossy design is beautifully done, backed by a fantastical soundtrack. The 4 arrow features land regularly and the Archery Bonus feature offers some great potential. We pocketed over 330 times our stake from just 6 arrows!
Combining impressive imagery with a nice variety of extras, Elven Magic can certainly cast a spell if the Elf Queen shoots straight! I also recommend you try Novomatic’s Elven Princess which has a similar theme.
