Theme – a neon-infused digital world

Theme: Cybercrime

High Value Symbol: Skull

Compatibility: Mobile, Tablet, Desktop

The theme in the Cyber Attack slot game is not one that’s too common. This makes a refreshing change to the common themes that have arguably been done a bit too much such as Egyptian and Greek Mythology. The reels look like they’re set up high somewhere, with buildings and skyscrapers in the background. I really like the visuals used here. It really does depict the theme well.

As you spin away, the soundtrack is quite intense and dramatic, and it sounds as though something is about to happen. This adds to the overall appeal as you’re hoping one of the bonus features will land for potentially bigger wins. The sound effects are good too when winners land and bonus features are triggered. Land the Free Spins feature and the background turn firey and is accompanied by an upbeat soundtrack, which I liked.

On the reels, the A-10 Royals make up the lower-paying symbols. These are joined by high-paying symbols that come in the form of either a folder or an sd card. I can’t tell which and the provider doesn’t specify. Let’s go with folders. The symbols include USB sticks, bugs, eyes, exclamation marks and skulls. The skull symbol pays the most, awarding 1.2, 1.8 or 2.2 x your total stake for 3, 4 or 5 in combination respectively.

The slot’s Wild is a W that looks like a hologram. It substitutes for all paying symbols in the game. Here’s a useful list showing you all of the symbols you’ll come across in the game and their payout information:

Cyber Attack Bonus Features

There are 4 bonus features in the Cyber Attack slot game – Symbol Hack, Multipliers Hack, Wild Hack and a Free Spins feature. The feature hacks are triggered with breach diversions, whereas the Free Spins feature is triggered by a successful breach. Read on to learn how they all work.

Feature Hacks

Randomly during any base game spin, the hacker lurking to the right of the reels may attempt to breach the system. If you fail, your attempt is diverted but strong enough to trigger one of the following feature hacks:

  • Symbol Hack – Drops a random number of symbols of the same type onto the reels in any position.
  • Multiplier Hack – Activates 2x to 5x ways multipliers on random positions. Symbols that land in these positions will count as the same number of symbols the multiplier displays.
  • Wild Hack – Activates Wilds in random positions, but they can’t appear on reels 1 or 5. Wilds count as the symbol which forms the longest winning combination on a single win way. Furthermore, they substitute for all paying symbols.

After 6 diverted breaches, which are shown above the reels, the Free Spins feature will trigger.

Free Spins Feature

If the system randomly fails to divert a breach or if it’s your 6th failed breach, you will be awarded 6 free spins. Before you start spinning away, a random symbol is infected with the Hijack virus. This means that every time the symbol appears during the bonus round, it will be hijacked and stored above the reels, as shown in the screenshot above. Up to 20 symbols can be hijacked in total.

It’s also possible for feature hacks to trigger during the bonus round, but only 1 can be triggered on a single spin. If the infected symbol appears in a position with an activated ways multiplier, the number of symbols hijacked from that position will be as many as the multiplier displays. Wilds can also be hijacked if they appear anywhere on the reels.

Once you’ve hijacked 20 of the chosen symbols, you won’t be able to hijack any more symbols and add them to your total. It’s also important to note that the free spins counter can randomly glitch and give you between 1 and 3 extra spins.

When you run out of free spins, all of the hijacked symbols will be placed onto the reels, beginning from the top row and from left to right. The more you hijack, the bigger the win. That might sound obvious, but I thought I’d point that out.

Originality

I must admit that I quite enjoyed this slot. There’s nothing amazing about it if truth be told, but I liked the theme and the visuals that come with it. I don’t mind the more common themes but this one was a refreshing change. It’ll certainly be one for you if you’ve got an interest in cybercrime and hacking. Here’s what Red Tiger themselves say about the slot:

  • Every spin sends you deeper into the digital maze of binary code in Red Tiger’s Cyber Attack.
  • Stay out of sight as you rule the world in Red Tiger’s Cyber Attack.
  • Digital icons sweep through the reels as you hack into Free Spins for infected symbols.
  • Plot your hacking attempts as you try to outsmart the virtual system in Red Tiger’s Cyber Attack.
  • Enter the raging virtual battle for files and information in Red Tiger’s Cyber Attack.

While the 10,500 x max wins are good, the low RTP rate of 95.68% lets it down a little. The symbol values aren’t too high either compared to a lot of other slots on the market. Nevertheless, I must mention that I triggered the feature hacks quite a few times during testing, so the 4 out of 5 hit rate certainly seemed accurate. Overall, it’s a very well-thought-out slot and one that will no doubt be enjoyed by many.

There aren’t many similar slots around, which bodes well for the interest of this one. However, a couple of alternatives to consider are Cyberslot Megaclusters from Big Time Gaming and High Street Heist from Quickspin. Thye comes with 23,960 x and 25,000 x max wins respectively.

Pros
  • 10,500 x max wins
  • 4/5 hit frequency
  • 1,024 ways to win
Cons
  • Highly volatile
  • Low RTP rate (95.68%)
