Given its title you might expect Blue Diamond to be a shiny, gemstone filled affair. Instead it’s a re-boot of a classic fruit machine from Red Tiger Gaming that’s played using a simple 3 reel, 3 row machine with payouts made on a single payline. Those single line wins can be impressive though, reaching up to 888 times your stake. Throw in wild re-spins and there’s plenty of action on offer here. Play from 20p to £500 per spin.
The reels in Blue Diamond have a decidedly old school flavour, albeit with a shiny high definition sheen. The plain white reels feature bright red cherries which are the lowest value symbols. Landing just 1 on the middle payline reel will see your stake returned. This increases to 3 and 5 times your bet if you land 2 or 3 of them.
Next come the single, double and treble bars – land 3 of these in any combination for a payout of 8 times your stake. 3 single bars pay 18x. 3 double bars award 28x with 38x on offer for a trio of triple bars. Better still are the lucky red 7s – land 3 of them on the middle reel for an 88x payday.
The Blue Diamond of the title is the game’s wild, substituting for all other symbols – whenever 1 of these lands in the single payline, it will be frozen in place and a re-spin is awarded. Land a second wild and it too is frozen and another re-spin follows. If you’re lucky enough to land all 3 Blue Diamonds on the middle reel, either in a single spin, or consecutively via the re-spins then a massive prize of 888 times your stake is awarded.
This is a super simple slot, harking back to the days of classic one arm bandits. It’s well produced though – the visuals are clear, crisp and HD which is what players are coming to expect these days. The Kraftwerk-style soundtrack is a fine addition too.
The action comes thick and fast here and we found the variance to be in the medium range. The wild Blue Diamonds arrive at regular intervals to trigger a decent number of re-spins. With just a single cherry required for a payout you won’t be waiting too long for the cashier to tick over.
As classic fruit machines go, this is about as simple as you’ll find. It looks and sounds terrific and with the added wild re-spins is a hypnotic and very playable slice of the old school. If you like this sort of game, I recommend Gems Gone Wild which is Red Tiger Gaming’s answer to Starburst.
