Set against a mist-filled, mountain backdrop, the reels feature the usual combination of playing card values and Chinese themed objects. The higher value symbols are classical adaptations of koi carp and a quartet of dragons. The red and gold dragon is the most lucrative of the creatures, paying up to 150 coins if you land 5 on a payline.
The gold Chinese coin is the game’s wild, replacing everything apart from the scatter. 3, 4 or 5 scatters on a payline and you’ll pocket 50, 100 or 300 coins. Any winning combination that includes a wild is boosted by a 2x multiplier and doubled. The wild can land on all 5 reels as well as fully stacked.
Chinese Treasures comes with a Free Spins feature – to trigger it, you’ll need to land 3 Free Spins symbols anywhere on the reels on the same spin. Pick from the 3 money envelopes shown to reveal the number of free spins you’ve been awarded. Watch out for the Dragon feature who can add up to 3 wild reels for huge wins. Regardless of whether there’s a wild in a winning payline or not, the payout will be doubled.
Like many Red Tiger Gaming slots, the free spins feature in Chinese Treasures isn’t the easiest to trigger. It can deliver thanks to the 2x multiplier, especially if you manage to land 3 wild reels. We’d put Chinese Treasure somewhere north of medium when it comes to variance – expect some lean spells punctuated by the occasional decent sized payday.
As usual, the design here is excellent – the high definition graphics are super slick on desktop, tablet and mobile devices with the action playing out to a classical Chinese backing track. The features don’t quite match the good looks but if the multiplier and stacked wilds fall nicely, then Chinese Treasures can certainly live up to its name. I also recommend Fortune Fest by Red Tiger Gaming which is very good.
