Harking back to 1950s movies and the fear of alien invasion, It Came From The Moon is 5 reel, 20 payline slot from Realistic Games. Top of the bill here is the pick ’em round where multipliers can send your payouts rocketing. Play, on all devices, from between 20p and £30 per spin.
Conspiracy movies where little green men threatened to take over the world were a staple for moviegoers in the 1950s and that theme is evident here. Set against a backdrop of scaremongering newspaper front pages, the reels include Realistic Games’ usual lower value playing cards alongside comic strip-style grannies, ray guns, the moon and flying saucers. 5 of the latter will award 1,000 times your line bet.
Look out for the It Came From The Moon logo which can land on reels 1 and 5 – this can deliver when it falls in combination with the wild. The logo on reel 1 with wilds on the same payline in reels 2 and 3 awards 100 coins. Add a third wild to that combination and the prize increases to 2,500 coins. Land logo symbols on reels 1 and 5 with wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4 and a mammoth prize of 10,000 coins will fly into the cashier.
The other symbol to keep a special eye on is the Drive-In sign which is the scatter – land 3 of them on reels 2, 3 and 4 on the same spin and you’ll trigger the It Came From The Moon Bonus feature. This is a classic pick ’em round where you shoot spaceships to reveal cash prizes.
Find a Moon Bug and you’ll move to the next level where bigger awards are on offer – if you manage to pick all of the prizes from a single level, you’ll receive a 2x multiplier. A special bonus is on offer if you manage to destroy the mother ship. All accumulated prizes are totalled then boosted by whatever multiplier you collected.
Like the cult movies on which it is based, It Came From The Moon looks a little dated – with just a single pick me round on offer it doesn’t offer the explosive thrills found in many other alien-themed slots, like WMS Gaming’s Invaders from the Planet Moolah.
The design is perfectly acceptable, especially the soundtrack which has a slightly sinister feel. The gameplay is a little underwhelming though and we’d certainly liked to have seen more action. We’d put the variance in the medium range with the RTP at a somewhat skinny 95.12%.
Alien invasion movies were supposed deliver scares as well as action – It Came From The Moon doesn’t really offer either. It’s solid enough but probably won’t provide enough features for serious action hunters.
