The design in Sherlock of London is terrifically well done. The mist-shrouded streets of Victorian London form the backdrop to the action. On the reels you’ll find A to 10 royals alongside Dr Watson, Irene Adler, Inspector Lestrade and Moriarty. The best standard symbol is the 221B Baker Street sign. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these for a payout of 0.8, 8 or 40 times your total stake.

Those same amounts are on offer from Sherlock himself who is the game’s wild. The famous detective substitutes for all of the standard symbols. Sherlock is also central to the game’s bonus features:

  • Connecting Wilds feature – land more than 1 wild on the same spin and they will form a trail with all the symbols in the path turning wild too.
  • Double Win feature – this is triggered if you land 2 wilds next to each other on 2 adjacent columns. All wins during this spin benefit from a 2x multiplier and are doubled.
  • Bonus Spins feature – land a wild on reel 1 or 2 and you’ll receive 1 or 2 bonus spins. Any wilds that hit lock in place here. You can trigger both the Connecting Wilds and Double Win features during the Bonus Spins.

Then you have the Free Spins feature – land 3 or more of the Holmes and Watson scatter on the same spin and you’ll receive 10 free spins. The Bonus Spins aren’t active here. Instead, single wilds that land expand and fill the whole of the reel. The Connecting Wilds and Double Win features can hit during the free spins too.

During the free spins, the Dr Watson symbol acts as a second wild. It doesn’t trigger the extras like the standard wild but it does replace all of the usual symbols. You can also retrigger the feature to give you 10 more free spins (and 20 in total).

Sherlock of London is an impressive take on Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous creation. The design is as good as you’ll find anywhere. The range of extras on offer here impresses too, especially all the wild goodies. The volatility is in the medium range with top wins of 2,000 times your stake on each spin/bonus spin/free spin.

Rabcat Gambling has come up with a winner here. Whether or not you’re already a fan of the famous consulting detective, the classy design and top extras make Sherlock of London well worth investigating. If you like the detective theme, Yggdrasil Gaming’s Holmes and the Stolen Stones should pique your interest.
