Dragon’s Myth tells the story of a fearless young girl who defeated a plague of fire-breathing beasts which had beset her people for 1,000 years. Created by Austrian developer Rabcat, it’s a 5 reel, 20 payline slot that comes with a bonus feature that awards free spins with win both ways payouts and fixed wilds. Try and slay the dragons from between 20p and £40 per spin.
The visuals on display in Dragon’s Myth are a delight – set against a rugged, hillside backdrop, the reels include A, K, Q and J playing cards alongside a quartet of dragons. Our flame-haired Viking heroine is the game’s wild, replacing all other symbols apart from the free spins, shoot and bonus symbols.
The imagery is done 3D style and is superbly realised – the animations are silky smooth (even in the rapid turbo mode) with the action playing out to a suitably epic soundtrack which is an ideal match for the dragon busting theme. No complaints at all as far as design goes. How do the features stack up?
The first thing you’ll notice is that there’s a cage in the bottom position of reel 5 – what you want to see are the dragon symbols landing here. Once you land all 4 dragons behind bars, you’ll trigger the Dragon Bounty feature and be awarded a cash prize.
Land 3 or more of the free spins scatter to trigger the Free Spins feature – on offer are 10, 15 or 20 free spins. These are played out on a new set of reels with win both ways enabled. This means winning combinations can be formed from right to left as well as the usual left to right.
Keep a special eye out for the Bonus symbol – when this lands, you’ll be taken to the Dragon’s cave and awarded 3 more free spins. You’ll also be able to place a sticky wild symbol anywhere on reels 2 or 4. This is offered every time you land the Bonus so hope to see plenty of them.
On the variance scale, we’d place the game in the middle – the gameplay on offer in Dragon’s Myth may be relatively simple but there’s still plenty to enjoy here. The look and sound are superb and the Rabcat designers deserve a big pat on the back.
The pace remains high throughout and if you get lucky with the sticky wilds in the feature, these dragons can help you fly away with decent amounts of treasure. If you like dragons, WMS’ Viking Vanguard is an excellent choice.
