Head back to a time when woolly mammoths, fearsome bears and sabre tooth tigers roamed the wilds in Razortooth, a 5 reel, 243 ways to win slot from Quickspin. Boasting superb graphics, look out for randomly added base game wilds as well as a free spins bonus feature complete with savage wilds that can fill up two entire reels. Join the hunt from between 25p and £100 per spin.
After seeing the preview trailer, we had high hopes from Quickspin’s animal-inspired offering. We’re pleased to say that Razortooth lives up to those high expectations.
Visually, it’s a gold star – set against a woodland backdrop, the reels include a selection of prehistoric animals including woolly mammoths, bears, birds and tigers as well as a range of gemstones. They have a slight cartoon feel and stand out beautifully against the pale blue backdrop. The game engine is super sleek and the reels have a lovely smooth spinning action. It all plays out to a laid back soundtrack – no complaints then with the look and sound of Razortooth.
The Razortooth logo is the wild, substituting for all other symbols apart from the scatter. Look out for the leaping tiger who will claw out up to three extra wilds to the reels during the base game.
Where Razortooth really starts to roar is in the feature round – 3 scatters will trigger the bonus where you’ll be awarded an initial 5 free spins. That sounds a little skinny but those free games will be boosted by the appearance of a stacked wild on up to 2 of the reels. Get the wilds on two reels and the payouts can quickly start to fly.
This is Quickspin’s first slot that uses the 243 ways to win game engine rather than the traditional payline structure. It works rather well and helps keep the pace galloping along at a very decent rate.
The variance seems to be in the medium range – the stacked wilds are the likeliest route to a (woolly) mammoth score. The base game can certainly have its moments too though, especially if you’re lucky to benefit from the trio of bonus wilds.
With excellent looks, super smooth gameplay, interesting theme and a potentially explosive feature round Razortooth ticks pretty much all the boxes in what we’re after in a slot. I would also recommend Quickspin’s Crystal Queen or King Colossus (the latter being highly volatile).
