Visually, Ivan and the Immortal King is set in an enchanted forest – symbols on the reels include 5 brightly coloured gemstones as well as dragons, wolves, a queen, King Koschey and the hero Ivan Tsarevich. The latter is the most rewarding symbol giving you 2, 20 or 100 times your stake for 3, 4 or 5 across a payline. There’s also a wild which replaces all symbols bar the 2 scatters – it pays like the highest value symbol, Ivan Tsarevich.

The game comes with a Baba Yaga Surprise feature – look out for the enigmatic witch Baba Yaga appearing over the reels. If she’s in a good mood, you will help you as she hides 4 random adjacent symbols which are then replaces in 1 of 2 ways:

  • 1 to 3 hidden symbols are replaces with Bonus scatters in the base game (to trigger the Free Spins feature) or progress scatters in the Free Spins feature (more on the latter below).
  • 1 randomly selected symbol replaces all hidden symbols guaranteeing you a winning combination.

Ivan and the Immortal King is all about the Free Spins feature which is played when you get 3 or more chest Bonus scatters. 3 will give you 10 free spins at Chest level whilst 4 will give you 14 free spins at Hare level. If you get 5, you will get 18 free spins at Duck level.

Now, the story is that Koschei’s soul is hidden inside a needle, which is in an egg, which is in a duck, which is in a hare, which is in a chest. With 6 multiplier levels in the feature, you need to collect 3 coin progressive scatters to activate the next multiplier level. Every multiplier level will reward you with 4 additional free spins with the multiplier increasing up to 20x:

LevelNameFree SpinsMultiplier
1Chest101x
2Hare142x
3Duck183x
4Egg225x
5Needle2610x
6Dead King3020x

As you can see, reaching level 6 will give you 30 free spins in total with the multiplier reaching 20x for your last 4 free spins. If you manage to trigger the Free Spins feature with 5 bonus scatters, you’ll start on level 3 with a 3x multiplier – this makes it much easier to climb through to level 6.

Ivan and the Immortal King is a lot simpler than it sounds – the key is the collect progress scatters in the Free Spins feature to get more free spins a bigger multiplier. Remember that Baba Yaga can appear to give you them too. The maximum you can win on each spin is 2,000 times your stake (by filling the reels with Ivan Tsarevich or wild symbols).

If you manage to do this with the 20x multiplier from level 6 in the feature, you’ll pocket a whopping 40,000 times your total stake! Ivan and the Immortal King can be highly rewarding but it’s highly volatile so you need to tread carefully. Overall, another superb slot from Quickspin who never disappoint – I also recommend you try Tiger’s Glory which is just as good.
