Ultimate Dream Team is a football themed slot powered by Push Gaming. It’s a 5 reel, 25 payline game that comes with a free spins feature and a Dream Team feature where you can win prizes by playing manager and picking your team. Available to play across desktop, mobile and tablet devices, kick off from between 25p and £250 per spin.

Push Gaming has created an impressive looking slot here – a buzzing football stadium forms the backdrop to the reels which include playing cards from A to J alongside a selection of footballers. Each player bears a slight resemblance to a star player so look out for “Ronaldinho”, “Wayne Rooney” and the like.

The top payer is the Cristiano Ronaldo lookalike – he can appear as a stacked symbol and awards payouts of between 20 and 800 coins if you land 2 or more in a payline. The same figures apply to the football which is the wild, substituting for everything apart from the bonus symbols.

There are 2 of those bonus symbols – land the football shirt symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5 and you’ll trigger the Reveal a Star Free Spins feature. Here you’ll be awarded 5 free spins. If more than 1 shirt symbol appears here, they will all transform into the same symbol before the payout consideration is made.

The second bonus round, the Dream Team feature, is triggered by landing the manager symbol on the middle 3 reels. It’s a variation on the pick me round as you’ll be given a choice of 12 shirts. Pick 1 to reveal a player who will move to the team sheet in the relevant position and reveal a cash prize.

Select the Star Man and that payout will benefit from a 3x multiplier and be trebled – there is also a boost symbol which increases the value of each player’s payout. You want to avoid the yellow card – just like in real football, it’s 2 of these and you’re off. If you manage to fill the entire team sheet, you can look forward to a payout of 30 times your stake.

We found it quite tricky to land the features in Ultimate Dream Team – and even when we did, like England’s penalty takers, they were a hit and miss affair. On occasions in the free spins, we won barely double our stake. The pick me feature was more lucrative but hardly broke the bank. That said, the stacked symbols in combination with the wilds, delivered some decent rewards.

Ultimate Dream Team may not be a trophy winning slot – if you’re looking for something to get you in the mood for Euro 2016 though, it should do the trick. For other football themed offerings, Net Entertainment’s Football: Champions Cup is a good substitute.
