The Hidden Temple is an extremely strange fruit machine/martial arts hybrid from Push Gaming. Played using a 3 reel, 5 payline game engine it comes spins with guaranteed wins and power ups. Play from 30p per spin.

The game is played on a traditional slot cabinet – the reels are at the bottom and there’s a Japanese animation constantly playing at the top. On the reels you’ll see cherries, bells and melons. The Hidden Treasure logo is the best paying symbol, awarding 15 coins if you land 3 in combination. There’s also a Replay symbol that awards a re-spin.

Look out too for the blue and red lucky 7s – if you land 3 of these, you can look forward to a payout of 15 coins. Wins featuring the two 7 symbols also award the Power Up mode. This becomes important when you trigger the Regular Bonus feature (confused yet? We certainly were).

Once the Regular Bonus feature is active, you will get 7 free spins with at least a melon win. Any Power Ups you may have acquired will keep the feature going. The blue 7 awards 2 Power Ups and with 3 of them on offer courtesy of red 7. Once you’re out of Power Ups, you’ll return to regular mode.

Now we’ve seen slots with some very strange themes in our time but never come across anything anywhere near as baffling as The Hidden Temple. The gameplay is completely confusing and incredibly difficult to follow. The anime cartoon at the top of the reels seems to be offering a completely random set of images. It’s not even easy to see the symbols given that the imagery is tiny.

Maybe this makes perfect sense to a Japanese, anime lover. It left us totally baffled. If you want a real challenge, and we mean a challenge, then give The Hidden Temple a look. If you can work out what on earth is happening, then you’ve done better than us! I prefer other Push Gaming titles with Blaze of Ra and Dragon Sisters some of their better showings.
