MGM Grand Gamble RTP, Details & Wager Limits
Reels/Paylines: 5 reels + 50 paylines
Stakes Range: 10p to £20 per spin
Max Win: 50,000 x stake
RTP: 96.52%
The MGM Grand Gamble slot is played on 5 reels and has 50 fixed paylines. A winning combination is formed by landing 3 or more of the same symbol on adjacent reels from left to right, beginning from reel 1. The Wild and Dollar Sign symbols are the only 2 in the game that require a minimum of 2 matching symbols to create a winner.
Spin away from as low as 10p up to £20 per spin. Hit the coins icon next to the spin button to adjust your total stake. There are 12 predefined bet values to choose from.
The MGM Grand Gamble RTP is 96.52%, which is very generous and higher than some of the best slots on the market. In terms of volatility, it’s in the high range.
The maximum win is 50,000 x the bet. This is arguably best achieved in the Grand Gamble feature or the Free Spins feature. More on those bonus features further down in the review.
Theme – head to the Las Vegas strip
Theme: Classic Casino
High Value Symbol: Dollar Sign
Compatibility: Mobile, Tablet, Desktop
This game is essentially a clone of Big Bamboo and has been produced on the back of a huge deal where MGM acquired Push Gaming via the LeoVegas Group for around £130 million. The buyout was initially announced in May 2023 and was completed in September 2023.
The action takes place in front of the MGM Grand on the Vegas Strip, with the background consisting of the hotel itself and the bright lights and palm trees. Visually it’s pretty basic band the audio is fairly standard too, with a disco-like beat playing throughout as you spin away. Land the Free Spins feature and you’ll move inside the hotel to the casino area, with an upbeat soundtrack playing during the spins. I must admit that I preferred the visuals and the audio in Big Bamboo.
On the reels, the lower-paying symbols are made up of pears, lemons, plums and cherries. You’ll see these on classic slot machines with the exception of the pear symbol, which could have been better being an orange or a watermelon in all honesty. The symbols are colourful but they have a hard time standing out in my opinion due to the bright green background.
The higher-paying symbols consist of horseshoes, bells, red lucky 7s and dollar signs. The dollar sign symbol pays the most, awarding 0.5, 2, 10 or 150 x the bet for 2, 3, 4 or 5 in combination.
The game’s Wild pays the same as the dollar sign symbol and substitutes for all other paying symbols. There are 2 Scatter symbols in the game, which work together to trigger bonus features. There are a few other symbols that appear just in the Grand Gamble feature. More on those further down.
Symbol | Payout/Info |
---|---|
Pear | 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.2 or 0.4 x stake |

Cherries | 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.2 or 0.4 x stake |
Horseshoe | 3, 4 or 5 = 0.3, 1.2 or 12 x stake |
Bell | 3, 4 or 5 = 0.4, 1.6 or 16 x stake |
Lucky Red 7 | 3, 4 or 5 = 0.5, 2 or 20 x stake |
Dollar Sign | 2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.5, 2, 10 or 150 x stake |
Wild | Substitutes for all + pays up to 150x |

MGM Grand Gamble mobile
Push Gaming is a mobile-first provider, so it’s no surprise to see that the MGM Grand Mobile mobile slot plays really well on iOS and Android devices as well as tablets and/or PCs. However, with the larger reel size, I do prefer playing this one on a bigger screen to fully appreciate the visuals.
MGM Grand Gamble Bonus Features
There are 5 bonus features to enjoy here, with plenty of action going on in the Free Spins feature and the Grand Gamble feature. Let’s run you through everything as there’s a lot to understand. We’ll start with the Mystery MGM symbol.
Mystery MGM Symbol
As mentioned in the symbols table above, the Mystery MGM symbol will reveal Wilds, Grand Gamble symbols and normal paying symbols when it lands anywhere on the reels. If it lands and reveals a Grand Gamble symbol, the Grand Gamel feature will be triggered.
Grand Gamble feature
This bonus feature is triggered when a Mystery MGM symbol reveals a Grand Gamble symbol. Each position with a Grand Gamble symbol will spin through different prizes. In addition to Scatters and Gamble Scatters, the following symbols may land:
Symbol | Payout/Info |
---|---|
Instant Prize | Will land as bet multipliers with values of: 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x, 1,000x, 2,500x and 5,000x. |
Multiplier | Multiplies the value of all Instant Prize and Collector symbols on the reels by the value of the Multiplier symbols. This symbol is then removed from the reels and the empty postiion will spin through all of the possible prizes. The multiplier values are: 2x, 3x, 5x and 10x. |
Collector | Collects the value of all Instant Prize and Collector symbols on the reels. It will stay on the reels and the empty positions will spin through all of the possible prizes. |
At the end of the bonus round, wins from the Instant Prize and Collector symbols will be multiplied by the stake amount.
Scatter and Gamble Scatter symbols
Let’s expand on what the Scatters in the game will do for you. They can land at any point in the base game or during the bonus features. The normal Scatter can appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 in the base game and the Free Spins feature. During the Grand Gamble feature, it can land anywhere.
During the base game, when a Scatter lands on reels 2 and 3, a Gamble Scatter could land on reel 4. If one does, all potential Free Spins Prizes will spin through inside the Gamble Scatter position. Here are the possible prizes:
- Blank – no Free Spins feature triggered
- 4-9 free spins – you will trigger the Free Spins feature with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 9 free spins.
- 7-9 free spins with 2 dots – you will trigger the Free Spins feature with a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 9 free spins. 2 low-paying symbols will be converted to Mystery MGM symbols.
- 8-10 free spins with 4 dots – you will trigger the Free Spins feature with a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 10 free spins. All 4 low-paying symbols will be converted to Mystery MGM symbols.
Gamble feature
If the Gamble Scatter symbol lands 1 of the free spins prizes above, the Gamble feature will be triggered. This is where a wheel spins to give you the chance to land a better free spins option. There’s also a possibility of winning nothing. Please note that although I can’t be sure as I haven’t had specific feedback, it wouldn’t surprise me if this feature is only available to non-UK players.
Free Spins feature
Land the Gamble Scatter with a free spins prize inside its position to trigger this bonus feature. You will notice a meter next to the reels in the screenshot above. Scatters and Gamble Scatters can be collected and each symbol has 4 dots. Filling all 4 of these dots will convert a low symbol into Mystery MGM symbols on the reels. The more you convert, the more you receive, as follows:
1st symbol | +4 free spins | 2x multiplier increase |
2nd symbol | +3 free spins | 3x multiplier increase |
3rd symbol | +3 free spins | 5x multiplier increase |
4th symbol | +2 free spins | 10x multiplier increase |
The Gamble Scatter symbol will spin through additional free spins and can award 1, 2 or 3 extra free spins with no upper limit on how many times this can happen during the bonus round.
Buy Bonus feature
Non-UK players can buy the Free Spins bonus feature for the following amounts:
Cost | Free Spins | Converted Symbols | RTP |
99 x stake | 7, 8 or 9 | 0 | 96.94% |
179 x stake | 7, 8 or 9 | 2 | 96.76% |
608 x stake | 8, 9 or 10 | 4 | 96.71% |
300 x stake | 7 to 10 | 0 to 4 | 96.74% |
MGM Grand Gamble Slot Review Verdict – clones of popular slots aren’t always better
I like what they’ve tried to do here with the MGM Grand Gamble slot. They’ve taken a hugely popular slot and cloned it on the back of a huge acquisition announcement. The gameplay is the same but I can’t help but feel that the visuals and the audio were rushed or not thought out well enough. Everything about this game is fantastic apart from these 2 aspects in my opinion. You may like them, though. I guess it’s all about opinions at the end of the day. My opinion is that the visuals and the soundtrack aren’t as good here compared to Big Bamboo.
But overall, if you’re a fan of the classic casino look and enjoyed the gameplay in the previous release, you’ll no doubt love this one. But although the gameplay is the same and the RTP rate has improved, (96.52%), I can’t help but feel that they had the chance to make this slot even better but failed a little. Don’t hesitate to try our free MGM Grand Gamble demo and decide for yourself.
