Powered by Push Gaming, Meet The Meerkats is a 5 reel, 40 payline animal-themed slot. Nicely designed, it comes with re-spins with frozen symbols as well as a traditional free spins feature. Available to play on all devices, stakes range from between 40p and £100 per spin.

A family of domesticated meerkats are the stars of the show in this slot – set against an unlikely looking family home, the reels include playing cards from A to J alongside a TV and phone. They’re joined by the members of the meerkat family, each of whom can appear as a stacked symbol and fill all 4 positions on a reel.

Visually, Meet The Meerkats is a very well done – the cartoon style imagery has a warm feel and the play is silky smooth. The bass heavy soundtrack bounces along too and certainly adds to the atmosphere.

Landing just 2 of the family members will net you a payout – the lowest payer is the school uniform wearing daughter who offers between 2 and 200 coins, the mother who awards between 3 and 250 coins and the father who’ll get you between 4 and 300x. They’re joined by the meerkat boys who appear as a stacked wild symbol and substitute for everything apart from the scatter.

That scatter is the front door symbol – land 3 of these anywhere on the reels and you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature and be awarded 5 free spins.

The other attraction is a Hold and Respin feature which is triggered when you land father, mother or daughter meerkat fully stacked in reel 1 – this stacked symbol will be held, as will any matching symbol or wilds on the reels. You’ll then be awarded a re-spin.

If another of the same member of the family or the wild lands, it too will be frozen and another re-spin follows. These keep on coming until you have a spin where there are no new arrivals or you fill the screen. The payout will then be made with all of the frozen meerkats and wilds in situ.
The features don’t quite match the visuals though – the free spins aren’t the easiest to trigger and even when we did land them it was hard to make them pay. Much more interesting was the Hold and Respin feature which came along much more regularly and offered better results.

These meerkats may look cute but they can quickly scuttle off with large chunks of your bankroll. Find a family member on reel 1 though and then fill multiple reels on the re-spins that follow and you’ll certainly be glad that you’ve been able to Meet the Meerkats. I recommend you try Ash Gaming’s Wild Gambler slot which also features meerkats and is more volatile.
