The Hearts Highway slot is played on 5 reels and comes with 20 fixed paylines. Wins are formed by landing 3 or more matching symbols from left to right, beginning from the leftmost reel. Only the highest win is paid per line.

Theme – futuristic flying cars

The classic-looking slot actually appears in the future as it’s set in front of a floating hotel. Well, it’s a motel as it’s Americanised and you’ll also see flying cars and bikes in the background. It’s an odd setup but strangely works rather well. The visuals are great and the soundtrack fits the theme nicely. On the reels, the classic fruit symbols make up the lower-paying symbols. They include grapes, limes, watermelons and cherries. Slot Machine Symbol

This symbol can only appear on reels 1 and 5 at any point. The Mini feature is played when it lands on the reels with 1 Red Heart symbol. During the Mini feature, a new reel will spin through Red Heart symbols and Duds during the Base Game and Free Spins feature. Wins are evaluated when the feature is complete. The amount won is relative to the number of Heart symbols that have landed and the number of Heart symbols that have landed during the Mini feature.

Heart Slot Feature

If you manage to land a slot machine symbol on both reels 1 and 5 at the same time, the Heart Slot feature is triggered. It’s played on a 6-reel slot with 1 symbol per reel  The new reel will spin through Red Heart symbols, Double Red Heart symbols and Duds.

When a Red Heart or a Double Red Heart symbol lands, that symbol will stay in place for the rest of the bonus feature. The reels will continue to spin until no new hearts land.

Free Spins feature

3 or more Bonus symbols will trigger this bonus feature. Here’s how many free spins you could start with depending on how many Bonus symbols land in the base game:

• 3 Bonus symbols = 10 free spins
• 4 Bonus symbols = 12 free spins + 1 Golden Heart above reel 2, 3 or 4
• 5 Bonus symbols = 15 free spins + 3 Golden Hearts above reels 2, 3 or 4

Simply spin away until your free spins run out. When a Golden Heart lands on reels 2, 3 or 4, it’s collected in the meter above the reels, which you will see from the screenshot above. It’s then replaced with a Red heart symbol. When you collect 3 Golden Hearts in the meter, an extra free spin is awarded to you and the respective reel below will be filled with Red Heart symbols for the rest of the Free Spins feature.

As you can probably gather from the title, hearts play a big part in the Hearts Highway slot. Red or gold, collecting them as you spin away will lead you to bigger wins. I like the features they’ve included here and they’ll no doubt appeal to many players. It’s not just your bog standard Free Spins feature either, which is good to see.

The RTP rate is well above average at 96.44% and the volatility isn’t maxed out either, which bodes well for players. I’m not sure of the hit frequency as the provider hasn’t specified that detail, but I must admit that I wasn’t winning too often during testing. I also found it quite tough to land the Free Spins feature, although non-UK players could just buy their way to the feature if needed.

We’ve seen instant win features in plenty of other slots previously such as Games Global’s 9 Masks of Fire and Push Gaming’s 10 Swords. This one follows a similar path but with increased max win potential. Everything has moved a bit further along since the release of the 2 aforementioned slots too, so you can expect better gameplay here and improved visuals.
