The Giga Jar slot is played on a typical 7×7 grid and uses the cluster pays mechanic. Wins are formed by matching 5 or more adjacent symbols vertically or horizontally. The way the cascades work is that winning symbols are removed and the ones above will fall into the empty spaces. New symbols will also drop from above to fill all available spaces on the grid.

The design in the Giga Jar slot is very similar to the original Jammin’ Jars and number 2. You’ll be experiencing a fruity disco in what looks like an ice bar. The visuals are fantastic as you spin away with distant chat going on in the background. The Giga Jar DJ appears to the left of the reels at the top of the meter and there’s a disco-like sound as you play. On the reels, you’ve got numerous pieces of fruit that offer returns as low as 0.1 x your stake and as high as 500 x your stake. You’ll come across blueberries, grapes, kiwis, peaches, oranges and strawberries. The strawberry symbol is the most lucrative awarding up to 500 x your total stake for 16 or more in a cluster.

The 7×7 grid works well on smaller screens but I always prefer to play the best grid slots on a bigger screen.

Giga Jar Bonus Features

There’s plenty going on in the Giga Jar slot game and you’ll experience 7 bonus features in total. These range from Instant Prize symbols and a Jar Meter to Ice Breaker and Snowball features. Let’s run you through everything on offer here, starting with the Ante Bet feature.

Ante Bet feature

You can use the AnteBet toggle to instantly fill the first Wild Jar on the meter to the left of the reels. It will increase your base bet by 80%. It’s important to note that this may not be available in your country. If it is, you’ll see the toggle display to the right of the reels.

Instant Prize symbols

You will see blocks and coins with numbers on them as you spin away in the Giga Jar slot. These are known as the Instant Prize symbols, and they are bet multipliers. A payout is awarded when one of these land in a cluster of a minimum of 5 Instant Prize symbols. They can land with the following values: 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x or 1,000x.

Jar Meter

You’ll see the Jar Meter to the left of the reels with the Giga Jar DJ on top of it. It simply tracks your progression through the game and contains the following elements:

• Wild Jar activation meters
• Giga Jar activation meter
• Giga Jar multiplier upgrade levels

Wild Jar feature

Just like the previous games, this Wild Jar symbol substitutes for all other symbols. After 3 winning cascades in a row, the first Wild Jar activation meter will be filled. Once that has been filled, the Wild Jar symbol will enter the grid in a random position. Once it contributes to a winning cluster, it will randomly move to another vacant position on the grid before another cascade occurs.

Every single Wild Jar has a multiplier associated with it, which begins at 1x. The current multiplier is added to any win that the Wild Jar is part of, and it will increase by 1x for each cluster win.

Giga Jar feature

When all 3 Wild Jars are in play after being activated via the Jar Meter to the left of the reels, the Giga Jar activation meter is activated. Once you land 3 more winning cascades in a row, the meter will be filled and this bonus feature will begin. As you will see from the screenshot above, the background turns purple and the Giga Jar symbol will appear in a random position on the grid.

The Giga Jar symbol appears as a 2×2 sized Wild, which means it’s essentially 4 individual 1×1 Wilds and this substitutes for all other symbols on the grid. It also has a multiplier value attached to it, which starts at 1x.

As you’ll also see from the screenshot above, a full progression meter is visible to the left of the reels and will remain active for 3 following cascades. It will then become inactive but will become active again if you manage to land 3 consecutive winning clusters.

The 3 wins in a row will also upgrade the multiplier associated with the Giga Jar symbol. There are 6 Giga Jar multiplier levels:

Ice Breaker feature

This feature can be triggered randomly in either the base game of the Giga Jar slot game or the Giga Jar feature. It will randomly choose between 1 and 3 paying symbol types and remove them from the grid. Note that it can only remove regular symbols, so won’t touch Instant prize symbols or Wilds for example.

Snowball feature

1 or 2 Giant symbols will be randomly added to the grid when this feature is triggered at random. The Giant symbols can appear in the following sizes:

• 2×2
• 3×3
• 4×4

The added symbols will either be regular paying symbols or Instant Prize symbols. Once the Giant symbols land, they will disappear to leave behind 1×1 versions. A payout consideration then follows. It’s very similar to the Rainbow feature you’ll find in the original slot from the series.

Giga Jar Review Summary – a superb slot

Well, what can I say about the Giga Jar slot? It’s fantastic. It’s arguably more of a sequel to the original Jammin’ Jars than Jammin’ Jars 2 is! I love the gameplay, the visuals are brilliant and the bonus features are superb. There’s little to fault here, but if I had to pick one thing, it might be that the max win potential of 10,000 x your total stake could be higher.

The Retro Tapes slot was great in its own right after displaying some unique features and symbols, but I’m so glad they’ve brought it back to what we all loved from the first 2 releases.

I tested the game extensively, and I have to say that I enjoyed plenty of bonus features. The Snowball and the Ice Breaker features were triggered numerous times. But I must admit that it did take me quite a while to trigger the Giga Jar feature. It teases you by getting so close before resetting, but that’s another thing I love about it. It keeps you gripped and encourages you to keep playing until that main feature lands.

There’s nothing bad to point out really, I really enjoyed every single aspect of the Giga Jar slot game. Being a medium variance slot, everything is well balanced, and the superb visuals and fun soundtrack will keep you entertained for however long you want to play this one. A brilliant effort, well done Push Gaming. Always pushing for gaming greatness (pun intended) and they’ve come up with a stunner here.
