DJ Cat RTP, Details & Wager Limits
Reels/Paylines: 4 reels + Win What You See
Stakes Range: 10p to £100 per spin
Max Win: 10,000 x stake
RTP: 96.32% | 95.2% | 94.03%
The DJ Cat slot is a little different to most other UK online slots. It’s played on 4 reels, with just the bottom row active initially. You will simply win what you see on the reels. Arrow symbols will open up new rows so that you can potentially land bigger winners, but we’ll explain how those symbol features work further down in the review.
Stakes range from just 10p up to £100 per spin. Hit the coins icon beside the reels to adjust your total bet. You will have 25 predefined bet values to pick from. Turbo spins and autoplay are also options but only if you’re a non-UK player.
The DJ Cat RTP is 96.32%, which is well above the average figure seen at UK online casinos. But it’s important to note that there are other RTP versions available – 95.2% and 94.03%. Just make sure you’re playing the one you want to play. The 90.08% and 88.4% RTP versions are only available in the German market so you won’t see these in the UK at all.
Volatility is in the high range. This means that the slot will offer higher payouts than another game with lower variance, but the payouts will be less frequent. If it was lower in volatility you’d see smaller payouts more often.
The maximum win is 10,000 x bet, which matches the DJ Fox slot that this one follows on from. Your best chance of landing the top prize will come when you’ve managed to open up every row with help from the Arrow symbol.
Theme – turn up the volume!
Theme: Club
High Value Symbol: N/A
Compatibility: Mobile, Tablet, Desktop
As you load the game, you’re surrounded by speakers and DJ Cat is floating in a makeshift DJ booth beside the reels. It’s got a very similar setup and feel to its predecessor, but one of the main differences here is that it’s 4 reels and not 3. I would argue that the visuals in the previous release are better as the colours are more striking, but the aesthetics here are nicely done. In terms of the soundtrack, it’s a slow R&B-type beat playing in the background as you spin away.
On the reels, you won’t see any playing card suits or A-J Royals here. It’s just numbers, duds and special VIP and Arrow symbols. Here’s a useful list breaking down what symbols you will come across in the game:
Symbol | Payouts/Info |
---|---|
9 | Pays 0.9 x stake |
8 | Pays 0.8 x stake |
7 | Pays 0.7 x stake |
6 | Pays 0.6 x stake |
5 | Pays 0.5 x stake |
4 | Pays 0.4 x stake |
3 | Pays 0.3 x stake |
2 | Pays 0.2 x stake |
1 | Pays 0.1 x stake |
0 | Pays 0 x stake (links with symbols above) |
Dud | has no value and represents a 'Blank' |
Arrow | The next row becomes active |
VIP | Collected in Multiplier Meter |
Double VIP | Collected in Multiplier Meter |
DJ Cat mobile
Push Gaming designs all its games with a mobile-first approach. Using the latest HTML5 technology, the reel setup in the DJ Cat mobile slot looks great on iOS and Android smartphones as well as tablets and desktops. This includes mobiles in portrait mode.
DJ Cat Bonus Features
There are 5 bonus features to enjoy in the DJ Cat slot game. You’ve got VIP symbols, Arrow symbols, multipliers and a Push-Up feature. Read on as we take you through everything on offer, starting with the Arrow symbol.
Arrow Symbol
When an Arrow symbol appears on the reels, the next row is activated and the Arrow symbol is then removed. Any Arrows that land on the newly activated row will then activate another row. A repins will also happen.
Arrow symbols won’t land on the top row or activated rows.
Win What You See
It’s as simple as that. win what you see. But it can be a little confusing at first, so let’s explain it. Say you have a 5 on reel 1, a dud, a dud and then a 0 on reel 4. The duds act as blockers, so it’s only the 5 we can consider here for a payout as the 0 is nothing in this example. You are paid 10% of the base bet, so 0.5 x bet and then that is multiplied by 5.
With me so far? Here’s another example. You land a 5, a 0, a dud and a dud. As mentioned, the duds are blockers, so it’s the 5 and the 0 make 50 here. So you are paid 10% of the base bet multiplied by 50.
Ok, one more example. Let’s say a 5 lands, then a dud, a 3 and then another dud. The blockers mean that we only need to count the 5 and the 3 here but not together. So it’s not 53, it’s 8 as the 5 and 3 are added together in this example as they’re not next to each other. You are then paid 10% of the base bet amount multiplied by 8.
Multiplier Meter Feature
When a VIP symbol lands on an active reel, it is collected into the Multiplier Meter on that row. You’ll see that to the far left of the reels in the above screenshot. The VIP symbol is then removed from the reels and a respin is awarded. During the respins, all positions containing dud symbols respin. All numbered symbols are held in place. Once the respins have ended, all active rows are evaluated for wins.
At the start of a new spin, only the first row is now active. The total number of VIP symbols that can land on each row is equal to the inactive positions on that row’s Multiplier Meter. You must have VIP symbols collected on that row to win the multiplier value.
Push-Up Feature
Like many new slots, DJ Cat comes with a buy option called Push-Up for non-UK players. This allows you to pay more to benefit from unlocked rows. It also changes the RTP. Here’s what’s available:
Push-Up | Cost | RTP |
2 Active Rows | 2.5 x bet | 96.39% |
3 Active Rows | 5 x bet | 96.27% |
4 Active Rows | 7.5 x bet | 96.25% |
5 Active Rows | 10 x bet | 96.37% |
DJ Cat Slot Review Summary – too similar to its predecessor
Before I give my opinion on the slot, here’s what Push Gaming had to say on why they made the game:
- Our second DJ game, DJ Cat retains the easy to understand Win What You See gameplay but adds in bigger win multipliers.
- Win What You See Games have enjoyed recent success, we’re offering customers and players a more modern theme, which is unique to the market and is sure to excite players.
- In a unique twist from most of our catalogue, we decided not to implement a bonus round to give the entire game a fast-paced feel that players will love.
I agree that it’s a nice and modern theme and that it’s a unique twist on the usual slots you see from them. They’ve done a great job putting together a slot that doesn’t have a bonus round. That’s hard to pull off. Is it better than DJ Fox? I think it’s about the same.
The reason I’m giving it a slightly lower score is that I was expecting a few more improvements. Ok, so there’s an extra reel and a couple of extra bits, but the volatility and the max win potential is ultimately the same, so it’ll simply come down to whether you prefer a DJ Cat or a DJ Fox. The visuals and the audio are very similar, but I’ll give some credit to this slot- the RTP rate is slightly higher and the multipliers are bigger.
Overall, this is still a great slot to play and deserves a solid rating from us. Don’t hesitate to try our free demo and decide for yourself whether it’s worth your time and money.
