Boss Bear RTP, Details & Wager Limits
Reels/Paylines: 6 reels + 50 paylines
Stakes Range: 10p to £100
Max Win: 25,000 x stake per spin
The Boss Bear slot is played on 6 reels and has 50 fixed paylines. Wins are formed by matching 3 or more symbols on adjacent reels, beginning from the leftmost reel.
Stakes range from just 10p up to £100 per spin, thus catering to all pockets. Hit the coins icon by the spin button to adjust your total stake. You’ll have 12 predefined values to choose from. Autospins and turbo spins may also be possible in your country.
The Boss Bear RTP is 96.47%, which is well above the average figure for online slots at UK casinos. But it’s important to note that there are other RTP versions of this game that casinos can utilise – 95.45% and 94.35%. There are 2 other lower RTP versions but these are only for the German market. In terms of volatility, this game is in the high range so don’t expect big wins too often.
The maximum win is 25,000 x the bet, which is very generous and higher than many other slots on the market. However, it’s 50% lower than Big Bamboo, which this release follows on from.
Theme – meet the Boss Bear in the shady part of the city
High Value Symbol: Panda
Compatibility: Mobile, Tablet, Desktop
This slot takes you to the back streets of Japan. It almost feels like it’s an animated version of what happens with Yakuza in the country. Yakuza are essentially organised crime syndicates. Except here we’ve got pandas, monkeys and wolves instead.
The visuals are fantastic and I really like the soundtrack that accompanies the game. It’s got a hip-hop yet traditional sound, which works really well. Land the Free Spins feature and the reels move inside a traditional Japanese room with suspenseful audio as you spin the reels. Again, both visually and overall it’s brilliant. I really like how Push Gaming has put it all together. The distinctive gong at the end of the bonus round is a nice touch too and another nod to Japanese origins.
On the reels, the playing card suits of clubs, spades, diamonds and hearts make up the lower-paying symbols alongside a ninja star and a pistol. the higher-paying symbols are the animals in the game – a wolf, a monkey and a panda. The panda is the most rewarding symbol, paying 0.5, 2, 10 or 100 x the bet for 2, 3, 4 or 5 in combination respectively.
The game’s Wild is a pair of swords, which substitutes for all symbols apart from Scatters and both Reveal symbols. Here’s a breakdown of the symbols in the game. There are a few more in the bonus feature, but we cover those further down in the review.
|Diamond||3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.2 or 0.8 x stake|
|Spade||3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.2 or 0.8 x stake|
|Heart||3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.2 or 0.8 x stake|
|Club||3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.2 or 0.8 x stake|

|Pistol||3, 4 or 5 = 0.4, 1 or 4 x stake|
|Wolf||3, 4 or 5 = 0.8, 2.4 or 10 x stake|
|Monkey||3, 4 or 5 = 1, 3 or 20 x stake|
|Panda||2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.5, 2, 10 or 100 x stake|

Boss Bear mobile
Produced using the latest HTML5 technology and released on the 22nd of November 2023, Boss Bear can be played on mobile, laptop, PC and tablet devices. Push Gaming is a mobile-first slot provider meaning they cater to smartphone players. This game is superb on mobile, but I personally always prefer slots with a bigger reel size on a tablet or desktop to appreciate the graphics and the gameplay fully.
Boss Bear Bonus Features
There are 9 bonus features in the Boss Bear slot game. From free spins and multipliers to a coin feature with numerous symbols, there’s a lot going on. Let’s take you through everything step by step, starting with the Reveal symbols.
During the base game and the Free Spins feature, Reveal symbols can land in stacks anywhere on the reels. Once they land, all of these symbols will reveal the same type of symbol. It’ll either be Wilds or any standard paying symbol.
If Reveal symbols manage to land on at least 3 consecutive reels regardless of their position, all of these symbols will turn into Golden Reveal symbols. This will trigger the Coin feature, which leads us nicely on…
Coin Drop Feature
Each position on the reels that is taken up by a Golden Reveal symbol will turn into a coin and spin through different prizes. During this bonus feature, the following symbols can land:
|Instant Prize||The values and the multiplier values of these symbols if they land are: 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x and 1,000x.|
|Multiplier||When this symbol lands, it will multiply the value of all Instant Prize symbols and Collector symbols on the reels but the value shown in the Multiplier symbol. This symbol is then removed and the empty position will spin through all of the possible prizes. The multiplier values are 2x, 3x, 5x and 10x.|
|Collector||This symbol will collect the value of all other Instant Prize and Collector symbols when it lands. All Instant Prize symbols will then disappear from the reels and empty positions will spin through all of the possible prizes.|
|Nudge||The stack of Golden Reveal symbols will expand and cover the whole reel where the Nudge symbol lands. The Nudge symbol is then removed from the reels. New empty positions will turn into coins and spin through all of the possible prizes except for the Nudge symbol.|
Free Spins Feature
Land 3 or more Scatters in the Coin feature or the base game of the Boss Bear slot to trigger this feature. Here’s how many free spins you will get depending on how many Scatters land:
- 3 Scatters = 7 free spins with no low-paying symbols converted to Reveal symbols.
- 4 Scatters = 8 free spins with 2 low-paying symbols converted to Reveal symbols.
- 5 Scatters = 9 free spins with 4 low-paying symbols converted to Reveal symbols.
Any Scatters that land during the bonus round will be collected in the Low Symbol Meter that you’ll see next to the reels in the screenshot above. When 4 Scatters are collected, a Low symbol on the reels will be converted to Reveal symbols.
When all Low symbols are removed, Scatters will no longer land on the reels.
Each Low symbol that’s removed will award extra free spins and multiplier upgrades as follows:
- 1st Low symbol converted to Reveal symbols awards 4 extra free spins and a 2x multiplier.
- 2nd Low symbol converted to Reveal symbols awards 3 extra free spins and a 3x multiplier.
- 3rd Low symbol converted to Reveal symbols awards 3 extra free spins and a 5x multiplier.
- 4th Low symbol converted to Reveal symbols awards 2 extra free spins and a 10x multiplier.
This feature is only available to non-UK players and is triggered by landing 3 or 4 Scatters in the base game or the Coin feature. You can choose to keep what you won initially or hit ‘gamble’ for the chance to win more free spins.
Bonus Buy Feature
As well as the Gamble feature, non-UK players also have the chance to buy the bonus features. This is what’s available:
|Full screen Golden Reveal feature||96.48%||300 x bet|
|5 Bonus symbol free spins||96.81%||600 x bet|
|Random free spins||96.7%||100 x bet|
Boss Bear Slot Review Summary – a fantastic sequel to the original
If you were a fan of Big Bamboo, you’ll no doubt enjoy this follow-up. Ok, so the max win has been chopped in half from 50,000 x bet to 25,000 x bet, but it’s still a generous offering and beats a lot of the slots on the market today. The theme and the features are brilliant too.
The gameplay is fairly similar to its predecessor, but the Reveal symbols have been improved and the Nudge symbol is a great addition. I was a little disappointed to see the Coin values drop from 5,000 x to 1,000 x compared to the previous release. But with the lower max win potential, that was to be expected.
Here’s what Push Gaming says about its release:
- With the success of Big Bamboo and the ‘cute’ Panda being a fan favourite – we wanted to give players a new take on the Panda Symbol, giving them a Panda that is the Boss of a notorious syndicate.
- We wanted to give players a new take on adjacent Reveal Stacks, which heightens the anticipation for players eager to see if they’ll land all three.
- We have added some great additions to the Coin Drop feature, all in favour of providing players with a thrilling experience.
- Without taking anything away from what fans loved about Big Bamboo, we’ve packed Boss Bear with extra features to ramp up the fun and excitement from start to finish.
I agree with the above points and I thoroughly enjoyed testing Boss Bear. But I was still thinking of Big Bamboo while spinning away, which highlighted to me just how good that slot was. I have to give this a similar rating. The only reason I’ve given this slightly less of a score is due to the win potential being reduced. Other than that, the bonus features, in my opinion, have been improved, and I’m a big fan of the theme, which is unique.
Don’t hesitate to try our free Boss Bear slot demo and decide for yourself if it’s worth your time and money.
A couple of fun panda alternatives to consider if you like this one are Panda Blitz from Playtech and Eye of the Panda by Hacksaw Gaming. Both are good in their own way, with Playtech offering a huge real-time jackpot and Hacksaw delivering a superb theme.
