Enter the Roman bear pit and do battle for a big win in Wild Gladiators, a 5 to 6 reel, 25 payline slot from Pragmatic Play. It comes with a special 6th reel that can boost payouts by up to 10x. Also on offer are expanding wilds and a free spins bonus round. Play from between 25p and £125 per spin.
Wild Gladiators is a relatively simple game as far as design goes. Joining the lower value A to 10 symbols are a Roman shield, a chariot, a tiger and a mysterious woman. Best of the standard symbols is the Roman emperor who’ll get you 25, 50 or 400 coins if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline.
Next to the main set you’ll see a 6th reel – this contains just multipliers and a wild bonus symbol. Land a winner and the payout is boosted by whatever multiplier is showing on the 6th reel.
Helping your winning chances is the gladiator symbol which is the wild – if it lands on the middle position of a reel, it will expand to turn the whole of that reel wild. The gladiator can hit on the middle spot on multiple reels to great effect, especially when combined with a high value multiplier.
Land all 5 expanding wilds and the top 10x multiplier for a massive 100,000 coin jackpot. Land the super wild bonus symbol on the multiplier reels and 5 wilds are added at random on the next spin. These too can expand to fill the whole reel if they land in a central position. This is known as the Super Wild Bonus feature.
Wild Gladiators also comes with a Free Spins feature which is triggered by landing the Colosseum scatter on reels 1, 3 and 5 on the same spin. You’ll then be awarded 10 free spins. The multiplier on reel 6 is in play here, as are the expanding wilds. An infinite number of re-triggers are possible here too.
This is a very enjoyable slot from Pragmatic Play. The visuals and sound are nicely crafted and there’s a cracking range of extras on offer. The multiplier reel is an excellent addition – combine that with the expanding wilds and free spins and the Wild Gladiators can deliver some potentially spectacular action. If you like the theme, WMS’ Spartacus Gladiator of Rome is recommended.
