Sweet Powernudge is played across 6 reels and 5 rows. Instead of paylines, the slot has a cluster pays mechanism, where wins are created by landing blocks of matching symbols. You need at least matching 5 symbols, touching either horizontally or vertically, to receive a payout.

You can get your sugar fix from just 20p up to £100 per spin. The Ante Bet also allows you to increase your stake by 25%, giving you a max bet of £125 per spin. Adjusting your stake is easy, simply use the + and – buttons on either side of the spin button.

Theme – confectionary chaos

As the name suggests, Sweet Powernudge has a confectionary theme. In appearance, it’s similar to quite a lot of slots we’ve seen before, including Pragmatic Play’s Sweet Bonanza. Slots providers have wheeled out this theme since the rise of Candy Crush, so it does feel a little uninspired.

Still, if you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll feel at home in this saccharine world. The game hangs against a a sky full of oversized candy and the soundtrack is suitably jolly. Symbols on the reels include lower paying Jack to Ace gummy royals, as well as a range of e-number coloured jellies. The highest paying symbol is the red jelly, delivering wins of 100 x your stake for a cluster of 15 or more.

There are no wild symbols in the Sweet Powernudge slot. The lollipop Scatter is the only special symbol. These can appear on all reels, and 4 or more in view triggers the Free Spins feature.

Powernudge feature

The Powernudge feature is similar to a tumbling reels feature. When you land any winning combination (a cluster of 5 or more matching symbols), any reels that contained at least 1 winning symbol will automatically nudge down 1 position to reveal an additional symbol from the top. The slot then pays out any newly formed combinations.

There’s no limit on how many times the feature can be triggered. It simply continues until no more winning combinations are created. It’s a lucrative perk for a high volatility game. While you may wait a while for a win to hit, the wins can come in quick succession thanks to the Powernudge.

Multiplier Reel feature

On any random spin, an extra reel to the right-hand side can come into play. This reel is filled with multipliers of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 x your stake.

Once in play, the reel will spin or nudge along with the rest of the reels. The multiplier value in the green middle position will be added to the total multiplier value. which keeps accumulating until no further nudges occur. Once this happens, the total multiplier value is applied to your win.

Whilst the rules of this feature make it sound like the Multiplier Reel may not come into action often, we’re happy to report it does. This gives you a great chance at boosting your wins, especially when combined with the Powernudge feature.

Free Spins feature

If you land a winning spin, any scatters present will be collected in a bank above the reels. Any scatters present during the nudge feature will then also be added to the bank. You must collect 4 scatters to trigger the Free Spins feature.

Any additional scatters collected in the base game will stay in the bank, and can contribute to retriggering the round. For example, if you enter the Free Spins feature with 6 scatters, you’ll have 2 left in the bank for the feature. The Free Spins feature begins with 7 free spins. Each time 4 more scatters are collected, and additional 3 free spins are awarded.

They key benefit of this round is that the multiplier reel is in play for the duration of the round. This allows you to rack up some big wins easily. What’s more, there’s no limit on how many times you can trigger the feature.

In some countries (not the UK), you can also buy your way into the Free Spins feature. Known as the Buy Feature, it costs 100 x the current total bet. Once bought, the triggering spin will include 4, 5 or 6 scatters at random.

Ante Bet feature

Like a lot of Pragmatic Play slots, Sweet Powernudge also comes with an Ante Bet feature. This allows you to increase your bet from 20 coins to 25 coins per spin (so a £1 bet costs £1.25). When the Ante Bet feature is active, you have double the chance of triggering the Free Spins feature, as there are more scatters on the reels.

Sweet Powernudge Review Summary – Uninspired yet sweet enough

The Sweet Powernudge slot is enjoyable enough. Whilst the theme is conventional, it’s bright and appealing, even if it does look very similar to many other candy-themed titles.

The gameplay is also decent. We’re happy to see the return of the Powernudge feature, and the slot comes with higher max wins than its precursor Goblin Heist Powernudge. The cluster pays mechanism is also a nice addition, yet the big wins come when all features work together.

The Sweet Powernudge bonus features give you a good shot at boosting your winnings. The nudge feature may lead to collecting enough scatters to trigger the free spins round, here you may rack up some reasonable multipliers, and then we come full-circle to the nudge feature granting you three more spins.

That said, the bonus features aren’t inspiring on their own, nor is the design. This is especially apparent when you contrast Sweet Powernudge with Pragmatic Play’s most popular sugary slot, Sweet Bonanza. Where Sweet Powernudge offers you max wins of 5,000 x your stake and an RTP of 96.08%, Sweet Bonanza boasts a 96.49% RTP rate and 21,175 x bet max wins.
