Pragmatic Plays sets the scene in its preview – “set in front of an ocean paradise a variety of cocktails make up the symbols of this tasty release”. I’m not sure if it is an ocean paradise as I can’t see much of the background, but the sunset makes it look nice. The bold colours look great and the action is accompanied by an upbeat soundtrack that you’d associate with drinking cocktails in a beach bar.

On the reels, the playing card suits make up the lower-paying symbols. These are joined by higher-paying symbols of different colours. The provider did plan to include a red cocktail but it didn’t make the cut in the end. The pink cocktail symbol pays the most, awarding 20, 100 or 1,000 x bet for 3, 4 or 5 in combination. The payouts for each symbol are high compared to a lot of other slots on the market.

The Wild in the game is a golden Wild with a strawberry, a straw and an umbrella attached. This substitutes for all symbols apart from Bonus Scatters and can appear on all reels. The Wild also matches the payouts for the pink cocktail symbol.

When testing the Strawberry Cocktail slot, I enjoyed the base game, landing some lower-value winners but without hitting anything big. However, I must admit that I managed to trigger the Bonus Respins feature a number of times, which bodes well for players going forward. The 1 in 124 spins bonus feature hit frequency seems to ring true here.

I like the design, and the bonus feature is a great addition with its mini slot and board game mix. Of course, you’re going to have more luck if you manage to land more Bonus Scatters when triggering the feature because there will be fewer Exit signs. But even with more than 1 of those on the board, you may still enjoy a decent bonus round. I did. It’s also good to see the max win potential set at 16,000 x bet when many other Pragmatic releases tend to be around the 5,000 x mark.
