Theme – classic festive fun

The Santa’s Great Gifts slot has a classic Christmas theme. Set in the North Pole, Santa stands to the right-hand side of the snow-covered reels, a sack of presents at his feet. The Santa’s Great Gifts slot is an enjoyable game, which delivers Xmas atmosphere in abundance. The design piles on traditional Christmas imagery, and it looks great on mobile and desktop. Don’t be fooled by the heart-warming theme, though, as it is a highly volatile game. Multipliers and tumbling reels make this risk worthwhile, as well as the all-ways mechanism. 

We enjoyed the free spins round, especially when we finally managed to unlock the higher multiplier levels. The tumbling reels bring a decent flurry of action too, which is much needed in a high variance game where you can spin for quite some time without anything happening. That said, we can’t help but think the title of this slot oversells the game. 

The crux of the problem is that we’ve seen this slot before. It’s almost identical to Gates of Olympus, yet with smaller multipliers. Santa’s Great Gifts offers a maximum multiplier of 100x, whilst Gates of Olympus gives you up to 500x. 

It’s not just the smaller multipliers that bother us either. Christmas slots come around every year, and providers often lazily repackage old games. We understand this is because holiday slots don’t have the longevity of more traditional themes, but we’d still like to see something a bit more exciting.
