A snooty looking conductor takes charge of proceedings in Mad Orchestra, a simple 5 reel, 20 payline slot from Pragmatic Play. Featuring bright and bold design this music-themed game comes with line jackpots of up to 5,000 coins and a pick ’em feature. Tune up from between 20p and £100 per spin.

The interior of an opera house is the setting for Mad Orchestra – symbols on the reels include drums, harps, pianos and violins. They’re joined by a quartet of dapper looking musicians as well as a conductor. The violin player is the most rewarding symbol, offering payouts of 1,000 coins if you land 5 on a payline.

The animated conductor is the game’s wild – he substitutes for all other symbols apart from the bonus and the scatters. Land 2, 3, 4 or 5 of these on a payline for a payout of 20, 200, 2,000 or 5,000 coins.

The exterior of the opera house is the scatter – land 3, 4 or 5 of these anywhere on the reels and you’ll pocket 5, 25 or 100 times your total stake. The scatter doesn’t award a feature though – to do that, you’ll need to land the diva which is the bonus symbol.

3 divas on reels 2, 3 and 4 on the same spin activate the Diva Melody Bonus feature – it’s a variation on the pick me round. You’ll be presented with a piano made up of brightly coloured keys. Pick a key – if it plays a note, you’ll win a prize. Land a bum note and you’ll lose a life. Keep on picking until you pick 3 bum notes. The prizes are added together and are then multiplied by your total stake. You can win over 190 times your total stake if you pick well here.

You’ll notice that there aren’t any free spins on offer here – the only feature is the pick ’em round. It’s not the easiest to trigger but can deliver some fine rewards if you get lucky with your choices. We’d put the overall variance in the low to medium range.

The cartoon style visuals work well enough, complemented by brief blasts from the orchestra as the backing track. Mad Orchestra isn’t a classic – what it does, it does well enough though. The key to bagging a decent win is the feature round. Get lucky with the diva and she can deliver plenty of entertainment and potentially decent wins. I do prefer other Pragmatic Play titles though with 3 Genie Wishes and Dragon Kingdom recommended.
