With a Mexican street party theme, the design is the Chilli Heart Megaways slot is virtually identical to the original Chilli Heat slot. The cartoon-style design here is rather basic but it does the job perfectly well.

Tumble feature

When a winning combination is created, the Tumble feature applies and a tumble follows. The successful symbols are blasted off the reels and new symbols drop in and replace them. A new payout consideration then follows. Tumbles continue until there’s one where no new winner lands.

Respin feature

Trigger the Respin feature landing 6 or more of the money symbols anywhere on the reels on the same spin. After all the payouts are made, the standard symbols are removed from the grid.

You’ll start with 3 respins on a special set of reels that are made up of money and blanks. The number of symbols that were active on the triggering spin will be active during the respins. To begin with, both reels 1 and 6 are locked. If a new money symbol lands, it too locks in position and the respins reset to 3. So far, so standard.

Keep a special eye out for symbols that can only appear on the horizontally spinning top reel. These can award a series of modifiers.

• Locks: the 2 lock symbols can unlock reel 1 or reel 6.
• Arrows: the arrow pointing up and down expands the reel directly below so it displays the maximum 7 symbols.
• Arrow Pointing Down in a Circle: this collects the values attached to the Money symbols in the reel directly below and adds them to the total.
• Arrow Pointing Down in a Square: this collects the values attached to all the Money symbols on the grid and adds them to the total.
• X in Circle: this multiplies the Money Symbols on the reel below by 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x.
• X in Square: this multiplies all the Money Symbols on the grid by 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x.

When you’ve used up all your respins, the value attached to the Money Symbols (which could have been boosted by multipliers and collects) is added together to give you an overall payout.

Buy Respin feature

Players in some countries will also have the chance to buy their way into the Respin feature. Simply called the Buy Respin feature, this costs a fee of 100 x your total stake. This option isn’t available in the UK.

Ante Bet feature

There is also an Ante Bet feature. This sees you increase your stake from 20 coins to 25 coins per spin. As a result, it double your chances of triggering the Respin feature. For example, a standard bet of £1 per spin would rise to £1.25 per spin with the Ante Bet active.

Chilli Heat Megaways Review Summary – a fiery follow-up to the popular original

The Chilli Heat Megaways slot is basically a Megaways version of Pragmatic Play’s popular Mexican-themed original. Visually, it’s very similar and the respins feature is the main extra in both slots.

There are a few differences of course, chiefly the Megaways mechanic. The original offered a Free Spins feature which has been jettisoned in this spin-off. With the RTP being the same, the max win here is 5,000 x stake whilst it’s 2,512 x stake in the original.

Saying that, a 5,000 x stake max win number isn’t appealing compared to other Megaways slots. If you take IGT’s Wheel of Fortune Megaways, you can win 80,150 x stake on each spin. Pragmatic Play’s Curse of the Werewolf Megaways is also excellent and offers 40,976 x stake max wins.
