Wacky Waters is brought to you by Playtech and is a 5 reel, 15 payline video slot which can be played from 15p to £1,125 a spin across desktop devices. With an underwater theme, the cartoon style graphics feature sharks, starfish, prawns, anchors, blowfish, crabs, octopi and plenty of other sea life creatures – with superb graphics and animations, it will remind you of SpongeBob SquarePants.
With an upbeat soundtrack, the blowfish is the most lucrative symbol on the reels as 5 of them on a payline will reward you with 3,000 times your line bet. The puffer fish symbol on the middle of reel 3 (the centre one) will trigger the Puffin’ Up feature – Albert the Blowfish then puffs up and deflates to leave between 1 and 6 wilds anywhere on the reels (in addition to the centre of the 3rd reel).
This is also available during the Wacky Waters Free Games feature – this can be accessed via Albert’s Underwater Bonus feature which is played when you see the anchor bonus symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5 simultaneously. Albert catches himself on an anchor and you need to use the arrows to choose a path for Albert to swim in.
Once you choose the path, click on Albert to start swimming – he will pass different objects until his air runs out. The objects include multipliers, 5 extra free spins, an extra wild and more air for Albert. These are then used for the Free Games feature. Look out for Albert (in pink this time) on the middle of reel 3 which will give you 3 additional free spins. If you get the anchor on reels 1, 3 and 5, you will be granted an additional 8 free spins.
Finally, you have the Cash Crab feature which is playable when you get 3 or more hermit crab symbols anywhere on the reels. They like keep themselves to themselves but can come out to play every so often – you will get 1 pick for 3 scatters, 2 picks for 4 scatters or 3 picks for 5 scatters. You will be awarded a cash prize of up to 100 times your stake if you’re lucky – this feature can be triggered in both the base game and Wacky Waters Free Games feature.
I found Wacky Waters to be a fun-filled slot game with plenty of wins in both the base game and features – the free spins feature is where I’ve had my biggest wins to date with over 300 times your stake won. It’s definitely a looker with the quirky characters providing a superb experience. I found the variance to be somewhere in the middle. If you like this theme, I recommend IGT’s Lucky Larry’s Lobster Mania 2 which is just as odd (and good).
