Super Lion is powered by Playtech and is a progressive jackpot slot game with 5 reels and 10 paylines. Playable from 10p to £2,000 a spin, it has a futuristic, cosmic feel to it as it’s set in outer space. Graphically very similar to NetEnt’s Starburst, it’s available to play across desktop, mobile and tablet devices.

The symbols on the reels include plenty of bright and translucent stones. The Super Lion, which is multi-coloured, is the wild symbol which appears only on the 3 middle reels (reel 2, 3 and 4). When it appears, it will trigger the Wild Re-Spin feature.

The Super Lion wild then expands to give you a stacked wild reel – the remaining reels with then spin with the wild reel held. If you get an additional wild, it will expand to cover the reel and will trigger another re-spin – both reels will then be fully wild. This will continue if you get a 3rd wild with 3 wild reels held for 1 last re-spin. Sound familiar?

The Wild Re-Spin feature is virtually identical to the feature found in Starburst – that’s not a bad thing as it can be highly rewarding. However, one element that will set Super Lion apart is the fact that is a progressive jackpot game which has the potential to give you a life-changing win.

In order to win the progressive jackpot, you need any of the 5 jackpot gems on an active payline – these jackpot gems are special symbols that can appear on any spin, on any of the reels. The higher your stake, the better your chances of winning the jackpot though.

All in all, I really like Super Lion – it’s too similar to Starburst not to like but the progressive jackpot element does add that extra bite which I quite like. Saying that, I am sure NetEnt will be contacting Playtech about the blatant similarities – i.e. the background, the graphics and even the multi-coloured wild. If you like African lions, Playtech also have White King which is very good (and highly volatile).
