Man of Steel is a Playtech powered progressive jackpot slot with 5 reels and 25 to 50 paylines. Playable from 50p to £2,500 per spin across desktop, mobile and tablet devices, the game is based on the 2013 superhero film from DC Comics which is a reboot of the original Superman film series. It has 4 bonus features as well as 4 randomly triggered progressive jackpots.
Symbols on the reels include Superman which is played by Henry Cavill – it’s the wild symbols and substitutes for all symbols except the scatters. If you manage to get 5 on a payline, you will receive 1,000 coins. There are 5 other wild symbols – General Zod, Faora, Namek, Jor-El and the regular wild – all giving you 1,000 coins for 5 on a payline.
Other symbols including the Superman logo, Martha Kane (played by Diane Lane), Jonathan Kent (played by Kevin Costner) and Perry White (played by Laurence Fishburne). You also have jets, buses, newspapers, cameras, glasses and post boxes. Graphically, Man of Steel looks fantastic with footage from the film and an epic soundtrack to match.
Look out for the Superman vs General Zod Shifting Wilds feature which is played when both the Superman wild and General Zod wild appear in the base game – the Superman wild moves to the right on each spin whilst the General Zod wild moves to the left on each spin. You will continue to get spins whilst wilds are on the reels.
When both wilds land on the same row, you will trigger the Battle for Earth Free Games feature – here, Superman takes to the skies to battle General Zod and his warriors. Now, the feature is played with 4 shifting wild symbols (Superman, General Zod, Faora and Namek). When the Superman wild lands on the same row as any of the 3 other wilds, the pair fight on the reels with every clash creating extra wild symbols. The free spins only finish when Superman is defeated.
Then you have the Krypton Free Games feature which is played when the Krypton Bonus scatter symbol lands on reel 5 – you will be awarded with 7 free spins. The feature takes place on a new reel set which only features higher-paying symbols and 50 paylines.
Before the feature starts, up to 10 Jor-El wilds can appear on the reels – these Jor-El wilds remain sticky/locked in position for the duration of the feature. Look out for the Krypton Bonus scatter landing on reel 5 as you will retrigger the feature and win an additional 7 free spins taking your total to 14. If you do this, all current Jor-El wilds disappear from the reels with a new number of Jor-El wilds appears and locking in place for the extra 7 free spins.
Then you have the World Engine Bonus feature which is played when the World Engine Bonus scatter appears on reel 5 in the base game. A terraforming blast unearths up to 7 regular wild symbols in random positions to be used for 1 spin.
Part of the DC Super Heroes Jackpot network, Man of Steel offers you 4 progressive jackpots – any of the 4 jackpots can be won randomly on any spin. You will randomly enter the Jackpot Game where you choose from 20 jackpot icons to reveal 1 of 4 coloured jackpot symbols. When you fill the corresponding colour up, you will win that jackpot. What you want is the Grand Jackpot which is the biggest and will be a minimum of £1 million!
Man of Steel definitely looks great and it has the bonus features to match – I particularly like Battle for Earth Free Games feature where you benefit from 4 shifting wilds. Better still is the Krypton Free Games feature where you can get up to 14 free spins with up to 10 Jor-El sticky wilds on each free spin. Variance wise, it’s in the middle with good winning potential in the base game and all bonus features. Thumbs up to Playtech for another superb branded game. I recommend you try the Batman series, from Playtech, which are also part of the same jackpot network.
