Lie Yan Zuan Shi is a 5 reel, 25 payline slot by Playtech which is playable from 25p to £2,500 per spin across all compatible devices (such as iOS, Android and laptops/PCs). This Chinese themed game benefits 2-high symbols and a free spins feature with an increasing multiplier.
Visually, Lie Yan Zuan Shi is nothing special – with burning flames in the background, it has the feel of a classic fruit machine when it comes to its symbols. You will see Bar, double Bars and triple Bars, horseshoes, dollar signs, gold bullions and 3 7s (red, green and blue). The 3 7s appear as 2-high symbols by the way.
The diamond is the wild symbol and substitutes for all symbols except the scatter – it’s also the most valuable symbol giving you 3,000 times your line stake (or 120 times your total stake) for 5 on a payline.
The main attraction is the Free Games feature which is played when 3 or more scatters appear anywhere on the reels – this will give you 10 free spins. The feature benefits from an increasing multiplier which begins at 2x. With every 2 free spins, the multiplier simply increases by 1.
It means, for example, that free spins 7 and 8 will be subject to a 5x multiplier and free spins 9 and 10 will be subject to a 6x multiplier. A wild symbol will also appear in the middle position of reel 3 for the duration of the feature (i.e. locked wild). The only downside is that you cannot retrigger the feature so no more free spins available.
I’m rather disappointed with Lie Yan Zuan Shi as quite a few Playtech slots use this exact game engine – all they have done is change the theme. It’s exactly the same as Halloween Fortune II with a much simpler and less favourable theme in my opinion. I would much rather play slots such as Age of the Gods which offers a lot more in terms of visuals and bonus features.
