Theme – Audio & Design Features – join the ancient Egyptian god of the moon

The Khonsu: God of Moon slot has an ancient Egyptian theme and is based on the ancient Egyptian god of the Moon (Khonsu). There’s a real epic quality to the design. The reels are set against a backdrop of pyramids, needle statues and giant Sphinxes. The impressive imagery is complemented by a classic Egyptian-style soundtrack. It all comes together superbly.

On the reels are stylized A to 10 royals which appear alongside the cat goddess Bastet, an ankh cross, the eye of Ra and the Scarab beetle. The higher value symbols are gold very luxuriously done. The best paying symbol is the scarab beetle paying up to 6 x your stake for 5 in combination.

Khonsu is the game’s wild. He can appear on all 5 reels and substitute for all the standard symbols. He also offers payouts of 6 x your total stake if you land 5 across a payline.

The high-class design and cracking pair of bonus feature are present and correct whether you’re playing on a desktop, tablet or smartphone. We enjoyed playing the Khonsu: God of Moon mobile slot.

Khonsu: God of Moon Bonus Features

Like most slots in Playtech’s Fire Blaze Jackpot series, Khonsu: God of Moon comes with a pair of bonus features. As well as a free spins feature there’s a streak respin bonus. This comes with a couple of nifty extras which have the potential to really liven up the action.

Mega Fire Blaze feature

khonsu-god-of-moon-slot-mega-fire-blaze-feature

The Mega Fire Blaze feature is triggered by landing 6 or more moon symbols anywhere on the reels on the same spin. Each moon comes with a cash value or a star attached. Those triggering symbols lock in position and 3 respins are awarded.

If a new moon symbol lands, it too is held and the respins resets to 3. So far, so standard. What makes this feature a little different is the presence of keys on some of the moons. Collect 2 keys and you’ll open up another row on the game grid.

If you collect enough coins to open up 7, 8 or 9 rows, you’ll also bring a multiplier into play. Moon prizes on the 7th, 8th and 9th rows are boosted by 2x, 5x and 10x multipliers. The feature ends when you’ve run out of respins. The value of all the moon prizes are added together (complete with any multiplier boosts), to give you your overall prize.

Furthermore, you can collect stars during the Mega Fire Blaze feature. The stars transform into 1 of the following jackpot prizes:

  • Grand Jackpot = 2,000 x stake
  • Major Jackpot = 500 x stake
  • Minor Jackpot = 100 x stake
  • Mini Jackpot – 20 x stake

It’s possible to land jackpots multiple times in the same Mega Fire Blaze feature.

Free Games feature

To trigger the Free Games feature, you’ll need to land 3, 4 or 5 Sphinx scatter symbols anywhere on the reels on the same spin. After a payout of 1, 10 or 50 x your total stake, you’ll go on to play 6 free spins.

Any wild or moon symbol that lands on reels 2, 3 or 4 expands to fill the whole of that reel. This means you can benefit from 3 wild reels on every free spin. Alternatively, expanding moon symbols makes it easier to activate the Mega Fire Blaze feature. Finally, landing 3 or more scatters will give you 6 more free spins, with no limits.

Khonsu: God of Moon Review Summary – a little different from ancient Egypt

There are seemingly endless numbers of slots set in ancient Egypt. The Khonsu: God of Moon slot offers something a little different both in terms of design and gameplay. For starters, this game looks and sounds superb. There’s a real epic quality to the design which matches the source material.

Good design counts for little if the gameplay isn’t up to snuff and thankfully, Khonsu: God of Moon impresses here too. The Free Games feature with expanding wilds and moons is solid enough. However, it’s all about the Mega Fire Blaze feature that really impressed though.

If you enjoy the ancient Egyptian theme, you have plenty of options. There’s the Book of Dead game from Play ‘n GO which is a must.
