Juego de la Oca is powered by Playtech and comes with 5 reels and 20 paylines. Playable from 20p to £1,000 a spin across desktop, mobile and tablet devices, the game is based on a 16th century board game (Game of the Goose) which was made into a television show in various countries – Juego de la Oca is inspired by the Spanish version of the TV show.

Visually, Juego de la Oca is rather strange – set on a cartoon style river with lush green fields and a bridge in the backdrop, the plain cream coloured reels have A, K, Q and J playing cards as well as mazes, window bars, wells, inns (posadas) and bridges.

Juego de la Oca comes with 2 wild symbols – you have regular goose wild and the Golden goose wild. The standard wild replaces all symbols bar the bonus symbol and appears on all reels – it also pays 5, 37.5 or 125 times your stake for 3, 4 or 5 across a payline.

The Golden goose wild also substitutes for all symbols bar the bonus symbol – it appears only on reel 5. When it appears, it activates the Expanding Wild Respin feature. You will then receive a free respin with the expanded wild locked on reel 5. Furthermore, the expanded wild can appear on up to 4 extra reels giving you 5 wild reels potentially!

The game also comes with a Juego de la Oca Bonus feature which is played when you get 3 or more Bonus symbols landing simultaneously in the base game – 3, 4 or 5 Bonus symbols will give you 3, 4 or 5 dice rolls. You then come across the board game where you can win cash prizes:

  • Land on a Goose to go to the next goose space and get a free dice roll
  • Bridge – go to the next bridge space
  • Inn – lose 1 dice roll
  • Dice – go to the next dice space and get a free dice roll
  • Well – lose 2 dice rolls
  • Labyrinth – lose 3 dice rolls
  • Skull – go back to space 1

If you reach space 63, the bonus feature will automatically end – this is end of the trail though and will reward you with the maximum 100 times stake prize.

Juego de la Oca is quite a simple slot that has no free spins feature unfortunately – I found the Juego de la Oca Bonus feature quite frustrating as I didn’t win more than 30 times my stake often. I found bigger wins coming from the Expanding Wild Respin feature where 3 wild reels resulted in a 600 times stake win. Variance wise, it’s in the middle and offers potential wins of 2,500 times your stake on each spin. It’s not a bad game but I would much rather play other Playtech titles such as Dragon Champions or Epic Ape.
