Ice Run Slot Review

Ice Run is powered by Playtech and is a video slot with 5 reels and 25 paylines. Playable from just 25p a spin to as high as £1,250 a spin, it caters to all pockets. You can snuggle up by the fire and be taken on a snowy adventure with Ice Run. There are cash bonuses, expanding wilds (with re-spins) as well as a Free Spins feature.

The Wild symbol is the male Eskimo which appears on the 3 middle reels. It will stand for any other symbol (except the scatter and bonus symbols) to give you the best possible winning combinations. The wild will also activate the Ice Breaker Re-Spins feature which is available to trigger in both the base game and Free Games feature.

If you get the wild in the middle of reel 3, it will expand to take over the whole reel giving you 2 re-spins. However, if you get the wild on reels 2, 3 and 4, it will expand and remain locked for 1 re-spin – I’ve had some seriously decent wins from this before (205 times stake my best return yet!).

Then you have the Ice Run Bonus feature which is triggers when the Bonus symbol (the Husky) appears simultaneously on reels 1 and 5. In the 1st stage of the feature, you need to hit 3 out of 7 snowmen to win cash prizes. When you choose a snowman, an Eskimo will slide down a hill and hit it giving you a cash prize.

After hitting the 3rd snowman, you can activate a random Snowball feature. 3 snowballs will hit the rest of the snowmen will all the remaining cash prizes being won. In the 2nd stage of the feature, you get to choose 1 of 3 igloos for a multiplier. This multiplier will applied to your cash prizes and multiply it – up to 5x!

Finally you have the Free Games feature which can be played when you get 3 or more Ice Run scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. You will begin with 10 free spins all with a 3x multiplier. You can trigger more free spins infinitely (by getting 3 scatters) too.

I found Ice Run to be a fun slot game which is low to medium variance – I had my biggest wins in the Ice Breaker Re-Spins feature when I had 3 expanding sticky wild reels though even though the Free Games feature can give you decent wins if you’re lucky. It reminds me a little of NetEnt’s Lucky Angler slot theme wise but there’s no better expanding sticky wild slot than the brilliant Black Knight II which is highly volatile and a must for slot lovers.
