Green Lantern Slot Review

Green Lantern is powered by Playtech and has 5 reels and 243 ways to win. The game is centred on the 2011 blockbuster movie which stars Ryan Reynolds (as Hal Jordan). Visually superb, there’s a Collapsing feature where you can win multiple times from each spin as winning symbols disappear to be replaced by new ones. Every collapsing win fills up the power bar with charges which are used in 3 free spins features. The Fear Flight Mission feature gives you unlimited free spins until you cover the reels with up to 8 stacking wilds, the Training Center Mission feature gives you 10 free spins with extra wilds (grenade, missile or punch wilds) and the Secret Sector Mission feature gives you 10 free spins with a dynamic win multiplier. There are also 4 progressive jackpots to be randomly won.

Green Lantern is a 5 reel, 243 ways to win progressive jackpot slot powered by Playtech. Available to play from 40p to £2,000 per spin across desktop, mobile and tablet devices, the game is based on the 2011 blockbuster film which starred Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan (Green Lantern).

The film was about a test pilot (Hal Jordan) who was chosen to the first human member of the Green Lantern Corps with a ring given to him that grants him superpowers. However, he must confront Parallax who threatens to disturb the universe’s balance of power.

Visually, and as you’d expect from Playtech, it’s fantastic which heavily depicts the movie. Symbols on the reels include Green Lantern, Guardian of Oa, Sinestro, Kilowog, Tomar-Re and playing card symbols A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9. The Green Lantern symbol is the most lucrative rewarding you with 500 coins for 5 on a payline. The ring is the wild symbol and appears only on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 – it also substitutes for all other symbols.

In terms of bonus features, Green Lantern uses the Collapsing feature meaning that winning symbols disappear to be replace by symbols falling from above. This means you can win time and time again from each spin.

Every consecutive collapsing win will fill up the bar’s 1 block – if you get 4 or more consecutive wins, you will randomly trigger 1 of 3 missions with the corresponding charge. The more consecutive wins you get, the higher the mission charge. You will get charge 1 for 4 to 5 consecutive collapses with 6 to 7 giving you charge 2. If you get 8 or more consecutive collapses, it will be charge 3. These charges apply in the missions which are described as follows:

You have the Fear Fight Mission feature where all symbols from the previous spin explode bar the stacking wilds – these appear instead or ordinary wilds. The stacking wilds stack at the bottom of the reels for the whole mission. You will carry on free spins until the reels are covered with stacking wilds limit. If you got charge 1, you will get up to 5 stacking wilds whilst its 6 stacking wilds for charge 2. For charge 3, it’s 8 stacking wilds.

The Training Center Mission feature gives you 10 free spins with extra wild symbols. The higher the charge (see previous), the more extra wilds you will benefit from. Charge 1 will give you grenade wilds whilst charge 2 will give you missile wilds. Charge 3 gives you punch wilds.

The Secret Sector Mission feature also gives you 10 free spins but with a dynamic win multiplier. You will begin with a 2x multiplier for charge 1 and 2 and a 3x multiplier for charge 3. With every consecutive collapse, the multiplier increases by 1 for charge 1 and by 2 for charge 2 and 3. If you got charge 3, you will begin with a 3x multiplier and every consecutive collapse will see the multiplier increase by 2 – this means that 3 consecutive collapses will see the multiplier increase to 9x!

Finally, Green Lantern is part of the DC Super Heroes Jackpot network meaning there are 4 progressive jackpots to be won. You will randomly enter the Jackpot Game where you are guaranteed to win the Mini, Minor, Major or Grand Jackpot. You will come across 20 jackpot icons – once you fill the area for that jackpot, you will win it. The Grand jackpot is the most lucrative being a minimum of £200,000!

The 2011 Green Lantern film was a flop but the slot version does far a lot better – it’s all about getting consecutive wins (collapses) really where you can charge up the 3 various missions. Obviously, you can win decent amounts in the base game due to the consecutive collapses but triggering any of the 3 missions with Charge 3 is where the big wins will come from.

I found the Secret Sector Mission feature to be the most lucrative due to the potentially very high multiplier you can achieve. It’s a medium variance game with plenty of bonus features to keep you coming back – if you like super heroes, I also recommend you play the Batman series which are based on the 1960s television show – they are all powered by Playtech.
