Head to the Wild West
Visually, Bonus Train Bandits has a Wild West theme – with a canyon in the backdrop, symbols on the reels include spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs as well as TNT dynamite stick boxes, goat skulls and pistols. You’ll also see 3 bandits. The silver metal skull badge symbol is the wild symbol which replaces all symbols bar the scatter – it appears on all reels bar reel 1 and is the most rewarding symbol giving you 25 times your stake for 5 on a payline.
Bonus Train feature
You’ll notice several bonus train carriages lie above the reels – 1 above each of the 5 reels and 1 off to the left/right side of the space above the reels. Each train carriage can give you access to a bonus feature or a cash prize worth up to 100 times your stake. With each spin, the bonus train shifts 1 position to the left. When a scatter lands, the prize on the bonus train carriage above that reel will be awarded. Only 1 scatter will appear on each spin though. This is known as the Bonus Train feature.
Revolver Wilds feature
If a scatter lands on a reel beneath the carriage showing 2 cross pistols, you will activate the Revolver Wilds feature – the scatter then transforms into a wild with 2 guns appearing below the reels. The bandits then shoot randomly at the reels turning up to 5 symbols into wilds. This can lead to 6 wild symbols being present on the reels.
Super Spins feature
If a scatter appears on a reel beneath the carriage displaying 2 curved arrows, you will play the Super Spins feature. A train with carriages showing every symbol (bar the scatter and wild) moves above the reels). A random symbol is the carriages is then chosen – it stops in the frame with consecutive respins awarded.
Only that selected symbol will show on the reels during the respins. Beginning with 2 respins, the selected symbol landing on the reels will lock to the reels and the respins counter resets to 2. The feature continues until all positions are filled with the selected symbol or you run out of respins.
Mega Multiplier Free Games feature
Lastly, there’s the Mega Multiplier Free Games feature – this is triggered when a scatter appears on a reel beneath a carriage showing the free games logo. Once in, you will get 5 wins spins. A train with win multipliers appear on each carriage – starting from 1x and increasing by 1 per carriage. On a losing free spin, the train moves left with the win multiplier increasing by 1. On a winning free spin, the bandit on the carriages moves to the right of the train with the train moving left – the win multiplier increases by 2. Only winning free spins reduce the number of free spins. I’ve managed to get a 14x multiplier on my last free spin.
Superb again from Playtech
Bonus Train Bandits is a very good slot from Playtech – visually, it’s one of the best I’ve come across. With regards to the bonus features, it’s superb with a lot of variety. For me, it’s all about the Mega Multiplier Free Games feature which can lead to big multipliers on your final free spins.
Win up to 20,000 x Stake
In Playtech’s promo video, they show a 40x multiplier which can be achieved if you get lots of losing free spins – that 40x multiplier applied to the maximum 500 times stake per spin can result in a 20,000 times stake payout. Medium to high variance, it’s definitely worth stepping aboard this train and being robbed by the bandits. If you like the theme, NetEnt’s Dead or Alive 2 is recommended.
