Battle of the Gods Slot Review
Battle of the Gods is a 5 reel, 25 payline video slot released by Playtech in 2014. This game is about the fights between Titans and younger gods. In Greek mythology, the Titans were giants of incredible strength and were their first gods and goddesses. The Titans were eventually overthrown by the Olympians as the new gods of the Greeks. This is a clone of Marvel’s X-Men slot and can be played from 25p a spin to £1,250 a spin.
Battle of the Gods features wilds, scatters, a free spin bonus game, and multipliers. Look out for the wild symbol (says wild on it) which can give you 10,000 times your line bet if you get 5 or more on an active payline. The game looks odd at first glance as there are no letter symbols – Gods have blue backgrounds whilst Titans have brown backgrounds (something I don’t really like as it’s hard to distinguish).
The game benefits from an X feature which is triggered when you get Gods on reels 2, 3 and 4 that form an ‘X’ pattern – this will multiply your win by 5 – this also applies in the Free Games feature which is triggered when you get 3 or more Olympia Temple symbols anywhere on the reels simultaneously. Firstly, all free spins are subject to a 2x multiplier.
You will start the feature in Gods Mode where the number of free spins is unlimited – only Gods symbols, wilds, and the Titan extra wild symbols appear. The game remains in Gods Mode until you get the Titan extra wild symbol on reel 3. When it happens, you switch to the Titans mode where you have 8 free spins maximum to play. In Titans mode, only Titans symbols, wilds, and the God extra wild symbols appear.
While in Titans Mode, if you get the Gods extra wild symbol on reel, then you go back to Gods Mode and unlimited free spins. Basically you can switch from Gods to Titans and Titan to Gods quite a few times. The free spin feature ends when there are no remaining spins left in Titans mode. I’ve managed to get over 50 free spins in total with a cool 240 times my stake.
As mentioned, Battle of the Gods is a clone of Marvel’s X-Men (also by Playtech) – the fact it has been reviewed shows you what I really think of it (not very much). I found the colourings and graphics to be a little dark with not much distinction between the symbols. I also found the game quite boring.
Saying that, it’s a low to medium variance game which can give you good wins in the free spins feature. I would much rather play other Marvel slots like The Avengers which are better graphically, offer better features and are higher variance. You need to hurry up and play the other Marvel slots though as Disney (who now owns Marvel) will stop Playtech offering these slots as of 2016.
