Gold Rush is a Playson-powered slot game with 5 reels and 9 fixed paylines. Playable from 9p to £45 a spin, it can be played on desktop, mobile and tablet devices. It has a mining theme with a Southern feel soundtrack playing as you spin the reels.

The most rewarding symbol on the reels is the miner who gives you 1,500 times your line bet if you get 5 on a payline – you also have the mouse with the bird in a cage who give you 750 times your line bet for 5 on a payline. Hopefully you will find golden nuggets beneath the rocks – just put on your flashlight and getting digging.

Inspired by the California Gold Rush, the Detonator is the wild symbol which increases the bonus prizes and expands on the whole reel and substituting for all symbols in the process.

Look out for the TNT symbol as this brings you 1 dynamite stick – once you’ve collected 10 dynamite sticks, you will trigger the Bonus feature. Here you need to choose 1 of the 3 mines to reveal silver, gold or gem stones. Silver will give you 30% of the bonus prize whilst gold gives you 60% of the bonus prize.

The gem stones will give you the whole amount! As mentioned, look out for the detonator wild symbol which increases the bonus prize by 1.35 times your total bet every time it appears.

There is also a Click-Me Bonus feature which is triggered by getting a Click Me Bonus mining wagon – you need to choose 1 of the wagons which will reward you with a cash prize. Silver will give you 4 times your total stake, gold 7 times your total stake with gem stones giving you 12 times your total bet.

I found Gold Rush to be a medium variance slot game – the only downside is the lack of a free spins feature. Saying that, the other features and the wild reels can certainly give you big wins. In fact, my biggest win came from the wild reel in the base game. I highly recommend this game as it will keep you playing, and digging, for hours. The only other slot I can think of which has a similar theme is NetEnt’s Boom Brothers – which isn’t as good.
