Bumper Crop is powered by Playson and is a 5 reel, 27 payline video slot which can be played from 27p to £135 a spin. It has a farm theme with a superhero gardener as the main character. Symbols on the reels include shovels, watering cans, the sun, bags of seeds and the gardener himself.

The 5 symbols mentioned are all scatters and they can combine to make the tree grow – this happens when 1 scatter per reel appears. When you’ve done this, a wild tree will appear triggering the Free Spins feature. The number of free spins you will receive depends on the amount of fruit you find in the tree – you will get either 1, 4 or 10 free spins.

Now, all other grown trees are frozen for a while with the new tree defrosted as soon as the previous one disappears. Importantly, you can win both ways during the feature which boosts your payout potential.

There are also other things to look out for during the feature – the Super Gardener gives you +1 growth stage to the tree on any reel. Furthermore, the wild tree can grow under any given reel (except for reel 3). It will expand on the whole reel too and can give you a further 3 or 4 free spins when it appears.

More importantly, look out for the Super Wild Tree which expands to take over the entire reel but gives you up to 10 free spins – however, it only appears on the middle reel.

Bumper Crop may sound complicated but it’s pretty easy to understand once the free spins feature plays out – I found it to be a low to medium variance slot game with plenty of smaller wins. The bigger wins will certainly come in the feature especially if you get a couple of Super Wild Trees (and therefore additional free spins).

I like the look and playability of Bumper Crop with a pleasant banjo-inspired soundtrack as you spin the reels. Graphically superb, it’s one of the better looking Playson titles. Saying that, if you want something more volatile, Dracula’s Family or Eastern Delights (also by Playson) will be more suited.
