Tomb Raider Secret of the Sword Slot Review
Tomb Raider Secret of the Sword (or Tomb Raider 2 as it’s also known) is a Microgaming powered video slot – it’s the sequel to the original Tomb Raider slot game and has been improved hugely. It has 5 reels and 30 paylines where you can play from 30p to £6 a spin. It is based on Lara Croft who is played by Angelina Jolie in the blockbuster movies.
Tomb Raider Secret of the Sword offers a 7,500 coin jackpot which you can trigger by getting 5 Lara Croft (wild) symbols. There are many great features in this slot game which sets Tomb Raider Secret of the Sword apart from many other slots. Firstly, let’s look at the Super Mode feature – this is randomly triggered and rewards you with 5 free spins. You will notice that multiple wild symbols appear on the reels which remain in place for the Super Mode. These can dramatically improving your chances of winning something substantial.
Then there’s the Free Spins with Rolling Reels feature – you can activate this by getting 3, 4 or 5 Excalibur Key symbols. You will be awarded with 10 free spins – once you get a winning combination, the winning symbols will explode and disappear. The reels will roll down with new symbols appearing in the spaces. The multiplier value increases after 2 or more consecutive winning spins – up to 5x. The only downside is that you can re-trigger more free spins.
Next we have the Global Adventure Bonus feature – you can trigger this by getting a Passport symbol on the centre position of a reel. You need to get this on all 5 reels so activated reels and held until the bonus feature is triggered (i.e. passport symbol in centre position across all 5 reels). In terms of the prize on offer, you can win up to 450 times your weighted average bet (you can have different bet sizes whilst finding the Passports).
You then need to select a location to begin your search for the Hidden Sword Fragments – the locations are London, Bolivia, Nepal, Ghana and Tokyo. You will then see Lara Croft swing across the reels to look for the fragments. Be wary of the booby traps as 2 of these will end the bonus round. If you manage to locate all the sword fragments, you will win a random cash prize.
Each location has 6 artefacts which are cash prizes, cash prizes with a Hidden Treasure, cash prize with a Sword Fragment or a booby trap. If you locate the Hidden Treasure, you can choose between a further cash prize, a 2x multiplier (for that location) or entry into the Shootout Bonus feature.
In this bonus round, you will see 15 discs that hide mystery values (displayed on the right-hand side). You can get a sword fragment here if Lara wins her duel against Amanda. The Shootout Bonus game is an elimination game where you need to guess the disc with the highest value. Fun, entertaining and can be hugely fruitful!
Tomb Raider Secret of the Sword has a lot going on – this is great as the features are truly brilliant. The game does look a little dated compared to Immortal Romance and Avalon II but it’s still widely played and well worth having a go.
