The Return of the Green Knight slot is a sequel to The Green Knight which was released in March 2021. Based on Arthurian legend, the story goes that it’s been a while since the Green Knight took on Sir Gawain in battle in order to win glory and fortune.

Based on the chivalric romance between Sir Gawain and the Green Knight from the late 14th century, the story has been told in a famous poem and various film/stage adaptations. Back to the game. The setting is the outskirts of Camelot where you’ll see a river, bridge and autumnal trees so give the game a romantic feel. Audially, the soundtrack is sweeping and stirring. Visually though, it’s better in my opinion compared to the original game.

On the reels, there are stone blocks with A, K, Q, J and T values on them. Higher-value symbols include Lady Guinevere, King Arthur, Morgan le Fay and Sir Gawain. The valiant Sir Gawain is the top paying symbol awarding 2.5, 5 or 25 x your total bet for 3, 4 or 5 across any payline. A screen full of him will result in a 500 x bet payout.

With sequels all the rage in 2023 it seems, it made sense for Play ‘n GO to revisit the infamous battle between Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. The original slot is also one of Play ‘n GO’s most popular titles so it was imperative we’ve arrived here.

Graphically, the Return of the Green Knight slot is better with a more romantic and compelling feel. It seems like Play ‘n GO has focused more on the backstory this time around. The setting is more autumnal too which coincides with the release date (October 2023).

In terms of the gameplay, much has remained the same. The Wild Multipliers in the base game and Free Spins feature haven’t been touched. Importantly, there are subtle but significant changes in the Shield Spins feature. For starters, triggering the Shield Spins for the last free spin will see 100x Multiplier Wilds in play.

Now, Multiplier Wilds are sticky meaning you are much more likely to benefit from big wins if you get enough of them. Five 100x Multiplier Wilds will result in a 10,000 x bet payout remember. This is the same as the max win in The Green Knight though.

Overall, Return of the Green Knight looks better than its predecessor and has sticky wilds during the Shield Spins feature.
