Odin: Protector of Realms Slot RTP, Details & Wager Limits
The setup in the Odin: Protector of Realms slot is rather unorthodox. The action takes place on a 4x5x6x7x6x5x4 grid which is set up in the shape of a hexagon. Winning combinations are created by landing clusters of matching symbols.
Bet levels here range from 20p to £100 per spin. Use the + and – arrows below the reels to adjust or via the settings if playing on a phone. All payouts in the paytable are shown in monetary values which makes it easy to understand. In some countries, there’s a Turbo Mode which can be used by clicking on the lightning bolt icon below the reels.
The Odin: Protector of Realms RTP is 96.2% which is Play ’n GO’s standard player return rate. Many slots from this provider are extremely volatile. That’s not the case here though where the variance is in the mid-range. On a scale of 1 to 10, the volatility comes in at around a 6. The most you can win from a single spin is 5,000 x your total stake.
Theme – Audio & Design Features – help the Norse God protect Asgard
With a Norse mythology theme, the design in the Odin: Protector of Realms slot is terrific. The setting is the Norse kingdom of Asgard which Odin has been charged with protecting. With the flickering stars of the night sky in the background, the reels are flanked by a pair of mighty statues and watched over by the imposing figure of Odin himself.
On the reels, you’ll see an assortment of lower value rune stone symbols. These are joined by hunting horns, shields, swords and hammers. The hammer is the most rewarding symbol. Filling the entire grid with 37 of these delivers the maximum award of some 5,000 x stake.
Odin’s golden sword is the wild. This can appear anywhere and substitute for all the standard symbols when it makes up part of a winning combination. Play ’n GO slots are consistently well designed and Odin: Protector of Realms is no exception. This is another cracking looking title.
Odin: Protector of Realms has been optimised for play on all devices including desktops, tablets and smartphones. The slick visuals are super smooth, even if you’re playing on a mobile.
Odin: Protector of Realms Bonus Features
The gameplay here is a little unusual, starting with the hexagonal game engine. Winning clusters lead to cascades which can deliver even more winning opportunities. With 7 bonus features in total, there are also 3 special modifiers which can trigger on any winless spin.
Cluster Wins feature
When a cluster is formed, the Cluster Wins feature is activated. The winning symbols are removed from the grid and added to a meter. New symbols then drop in and replace them. These cascades keep on coming as long as a new winning combination is formed. Add enough symbols into the meter and you’ll bring extras into the mix as you’ll find out below.
Forged Ring features
Whenever a winning cluster is formed, the symbols are removed from the grid and added to the ring meter. If you manage to amass 30 or more symbols in the Ring Meter, you’ll activate special levels:
Level 1 | 30 symbols required | Activates the Bronze Forged feature |
Level 2 | 70 symbols required | Activates the Silver Forged feature |
Level 3 | 120 symbols required | Activated the Gold Forged feature |
When one of the Forged features is activated, a pattern is created made up of the symbol in the centre of the hexagonal grid. The size of the pattern depends on the level you have attained.
- Bronze Forged feature = a minimum cluster of at least 7 symbols
- Silver Forged feature = a cluster of between 12 and 19 symbols
- Gold Forged feature = a cluster of between 20 and 37 symbols
Odin’s Abilities features
Odin: Protector of Realms also comes with a trio of special modifiers. The Odin’s Abilities can trigger at random on any spin that doesn’t result in a winning cluster being formed. This is what they entail:
- Wisdom feature: before the Forged feature triggers, you’ll get an upgrade of the central symbol which will form the winning cluster. It can be any high value symbol or wild. If the central symbol is already a high value, it’s upgraded to an even better one or a wild.
- Power feature: if you’re within 5 symbols of triggering the next charge and there are no more winners on the grid, the Power feature can strike. This destroys 2 random symbol types on the grid and creates a new cascade.
- Glory feature: this adds between 2 and 8 wilds to random positions on the grid to boost your chances of landing a new winning cluster.
Odin: Protector of Realms Review Summary – Scandi saga offers something different
This slice of Scandinavian legend is nicely done. The design in the Odin: Protector of Realms slot is superb and the gameplay offers a decent amount of action thanks to the cluster pays, cascading reels and power ups. The lack of any free spins is slightly disappointing but there’s still enough going on to keep you on your toes.
The bigger wins will come from the randomly-triggered Odin’s Abilities features. In particular, I like the Glory feature where up to 8 wilds can be added which dramatically increases your chances of forming a winning cluster.
It might not be volatile enough for some tastes but for a Norse saga that combines quality visuals with some decent extras, Odin: Protector of Realms is worth a look.
If it’s Cluster Pays you want, Play ‘n GO’s very own Hammerfall would be my pick. It offers 10 bonus features and a much bigger potential max win of 30,000 x stake. Another game from Play ‘n GO you should try is Hotel Yeti-Way which also comes with 30,000 x stake max wins and plenty of modifiers.
Odin: Protector of Realms FAQs
The Odin: Protector of Realms RTP rate is 96.2% which is the standard figure for a Play ‘n GO slot game. The volatility here is around 6 out of 10 which puts it in the medium range.
The maximum win per spin is 5,000 x your total stake. This can be won by landing a cluster of the high value hammer symbol and/or wilds.
When you get 30+ symbols in the Ring Meter, a $1 will apply. 30, 70 or 120 symbols will trigger the Bronze, Silver or Gold Forged feature which will give you a minimum cluster of 7, 12 or 20 symbols respectively.
There are 3 $1 which trigger randomly on a non-winning spin. They upgrade symbols, destroy 2 random symbol types or add up to 8 wilds to help you form winning clusters.
