The Gemix 2 slot is played on a 7×7 grid with 49 symbols on display. Being a Cluster Pays slot, winning combinations are formed by landing 5 or more matching symbols adjacent to one another (in Cluster formation). The more symbols in the Cluster, the bigger the payout.

The Gemix 2 slot is the sequel to the popular Gemix which was originally released by Play ‘n GO in December 2014. Based on precious gemstones, it has a fantasy theme and has a medieval feel to it. Gemix 2 takes you to 4 different worlds where gems are revered.

Symbols include 8 different coloured radiant gemstones. The most valuable symbol is the star gemstone which pays 200 x your total stake if you land 15 or more in a cluster. There are up to 4 different guardians that can appear, each with a unique wild symbol. More on this below.

As with all Play ‘n GO slots, Gemix 2 can be played across all devices such as mobiles, tablets, PCs and laptops. The 7×7 grid lends itself well to smartphones making it perfect to play on the go.

Gemix 2 Bonus Features

Gemix 2 comes with 7 bonus features. The key to them all is to land winning clusters which charge the meter. This lead to Crystal Charge features and a Super version with multipliers up to 20x. Each guardian offers it’s own wild extra too.

Cascade feature

When you get a winning cluster, the Cascade feature is activated. The winning jewels burst away to be replaced by new gems. This gives you chance after chance to win multiple times for each spin. This feature is very common in Cluster Pays slots.

Crystal Charge features

When you blast away at least 25 symbols, you will bring a Crystal Charge feature into play. With 4 of them to benefit from, here’s what you can expect:

• Nova Blast feature: here, 1 symbol explodes destroying and transforming adjacent symbols.
• Crystal Warp feature: 1 symbol is targeted with all instances warped into other symbols.
• Light Beam feature: 1 symbol shoots out light beams with all symbols hit transformed to other symbols.
• Chain Lightning feature: 2 corner symbols are connected with a lightning chain. All hit symbols transform to 1 of the corner symbols.

Super Charge feature

If you manage to blast away 50 or more symbols, you will trigger the Super Charge feature. All 4 Crystal Charge features trigger simultaneously along with a 2x multiplier. You can retrigger this multiple times with the multiplier increasing by 2 each time, up to 20x.

World Bonus feature

On each spin, you will notice some symbol positions are highlighted in below. When you get a win on that position, it runs yellow. Clear 2 patterns on each world to progress to the next one. You have the knight, miner, princess and wizard worlds. Wins increase the World Bonus feature.

When you clear a world, the G-Nome character (a shady travelling merchant) appears each time. Pick 1 of his pockets for a chance to win the World Bonus feature. This amount is displayed to the right of the grid.

World Wilds feature

Here, up to 4 guardians can appear during play, each with a unique wild symbol. Each world has their own guardian naturally. Known as the World Wilds feature, which can trigger randomly, the guardian of the world will be the first one to appear. Here’s what they each offer you:

• Knight: up to 2 Mega Wilds can appear with multipliers
• Miner: up to 10 wilds can appear
• Princess: wilds can spread to edge to edge
• Wizard: up to 5 sticky wilds can appear on random positions

Gemix 2 Review Summary – decent Cluster Pays slot

The Gemix 2 slot is very similar to the original game. Graphically, it’s sharper and added another guardian and world. However, the bonus features are also almost identical with a few changes here and there.

The Super Charge feature has more potential in the sequel to the potential 20x multiplier on offer. The Crystal Charge feature are also better. The value of the symbols are lower though so you need those multipliers to win bigger. You will need plenty of Super Charges to achieve this though.

The max win is 7,500 x stake per spin compared to 4,513.5 x stake in the original Gemix. The RTP rate though is lower (96.26% vs 96.83%). Overall, Gemix 2 is a decent grid slot but there’s not much different from the original game.

If you want better grid/Cluster games, Push Gaming’s Jammin’ Jars and Play ‘n GO’s very own Hammerfall are highly recommended. The latter pays up to 30,000 x stake and has a total of 10 bonus features.
