The Gargantoonz is played on a 7×7 grid and uses the Cluster Pays mechanic. land 5 or more matching symbols on the grid. As long as they are touching horizontally or vertically, you’ll form a winning combination. Winning symbols are removed and symbols will fall down to fill the gaps.

The Gargantoonz RTP is 96.2%, which is very typical of a lot of slots by Play’n GO. In terms of volatility, it’s in the high range and rated 8/10 by the provider.

The maximum win is 7,000 x the bet, which isn’t too bad but we’ve seen higher from many other slots on the market. It’s much higher than Gigantoonz but lower than the previous Dr Toonz slot.

Theme – enter the lab and enjoy new inventions

If you’ve played any of the previous titles from the series, you know that the theme in the Gargantoonz slot is all about outer space and aliens that make funny noises as you spin the reels. It’s a very friendly game where the aliens are cute rather than something sinister you’d see in the film Alien.

The graphics are brilliant, with the bold colours on the grid really catching the eye. I like the chargers to the right of the reels and the way all of the symbols interact during the gameplay. It all comes together well. In terms of the soundtrack, it reminds me of music back in the 80s, and I wouldn’t blame you if you were reaching for the mute button after a while. It’s a little too repetitive for my liking. I preferred the audio in previous releases in the series.

On the reels, the one-eyed aliens make up the lower-paying symbols. The higher-paying ones are the different-coloured aliens with 2 eyes. The Blocktoon symbol is the most lucrative, paying 1 to 1,500 x your total stake for 5 to 18+ in a cluster.

There’s no Scatter in the game. However, there are 5 different Wilds, which substitute for all symbols and do their own thing during their own individual features. More on those bonus features further down in the review.

Released on the 30th of November 2023, the Gargantoonz mobile slot is available to play on smartphones, desktops and tablet devices. Gargantoonz Bonus Features

There are 7 bonus features in the Gargantoonz slot game. From Wilds and Multipliers to experiments and a fun Garrgantoonz feature that plays out in 3 steps, there’s a lot going on. Read on as we explain everything for you so that you can fully understand how to play this slot.

Fluctuation feature

This feature happens on every spin. For each round, a one-eyed symbol is chosen randomly to fluctuate. If fluctuating symbols win, 1 or 2 Quantum Wilds appear in any position where a symbol was removed.

Discharge feature

On any spin where there are no winning combinations, 4 to 8 Quantum Wilds may randomly be added to the grid.

Experiment Charger

If there are no experiments happening, any winning clusters will charge the charger, which you will see to the right of the reels (on desktop). 20 symbols will fully charge the charger, and when this happens, an experiment is randomly chosen after the winning cascades are complete. If you are successful with that experiment, another one follows until all 3 are completed. If you’re not successful, the experiment cycle ends.

At the start of an experiment, unique Wilds are added to the grid and all Wilds already on the grid will turn into the same Wild. When an experiment is ongoing, only the Wilds return charge to the experiment charger with their symbol values. 40 symbols will fully charge the charger in this state. 40 extra symbols overcharge the charger and increase the Gargantoonz multiplier by 1x. Experiments

The possible experiments that can take place are:

Gamma Ray Burst

7 to 9 Wilds are added to the grid. Winning Wilds count the number of symbols in their clusters before removing and counting all instances of the same symbols. Extra symbols that are removed are counted once even if there are multiple winning clusters with the same symbol type. When the symbols are all counted, the Wilds leave the grid and charge the experiment charger before any cascades begin.

Black Hole

4 to 6 Wilds are added to the grid. Winning Wilds count the symbols in their clusters and remain on the grid until there are wins. When all cascades are complete, Wilds will collect all adjacent symbols vertically and diagonally and leave the grid to charge the experiment charger. The symbols removed are counted only once. If 3 or more Wilds are in the same cluster, they trigger their effect straight away, leave the grid and charge the experiment charger instead of remaining on the grid.

Supernova

3 to 5 Wilds are added to the grid. Winning Wilds count the symbols in their clusters, remain on the grid if there are wins, and step one position diagonally on each new cascade if that’s possible. But, they may no intersect. When all winning cascades are complete, Wilds move 8 steps in any possible direction, collect symbols in their path and leave to charge the experiment charger. If 3 or more Wilds are in the same cluster, they trigger their effect straight away, leave the grid and charge the experiment charger instead of remaining on the grid.

Gargantoon Charger

Every successful experiment will charge the Gargantoon charger and will make the Gargantoon evolve. The charger starts with a multiplier of 1x that is relevant only to the Gargantoonz feature, and each overcharged experiment adds 1x, 2x, 3x or 4x to that multiplier. If all 3 experiments are successfully completed, the Gargantoonz feature is triggered.

Gargantoon feature

This bonus feature plays out in 3 steps:

• 8 1×1 Gargantoon Wilds appear on the reels and remain to merge even if they take part in any wins.
• The 1×1 Gargantoon Wilds merge into 2 2×2 Gargantoon Wilds after wins are counted but before the next cascade. These also remain to merge on the reels after wins.
• The 2×2 Gargantoon Wilds merge into a 3×3 Gargantoon Wild after wins are counted but before the next cascade. This 3×3 Wild is removed with the wins and doesn’t stay on the reels.

Gargantoonz Review Summary – a fun addition to the series

There’s a lot going on in the Gargantoonz slot, so take your time with it initially. We’ve explained everything above to help you grasp exactly what’s going on and when. Once you’ve had a few spins, it all becomes more familiar and easy to understand.

As far as cluster-paying grid slots go, this is a good one. It’s not amazing, and I think the max win potential lets that down a little at just 7,000 x the bet, but it’s worth noting that it’s the 2nd highest max win in the series, only behind Dr Toonz. The soundtrack leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion too, and I did mute the game while testing as the repetitiveness got to me. Overall, don’t let frustration get the better of you here. It took me a while to charge the chargers when I was testing it out, but the gameplay in the base game keeps things entertaining, and I didn’t lose heart trying to trigger some of the better features. They do come eventually. It’s nice to see a new addition to this series of games. It’s a fun one to play.
