The Divine Showdown slot game has a godly theme – at the edge of eternity, the universe has aligned to bring 4 of the most powerful gods ever known together to do battle. It comes the Norse god of Thunder (Thor), the Chinese monkey king (Wukong), the Greek goddess of wisdom and war (Athena) and the Egyptian god of death (Anubis).

Visually, Divine Showdown is excellent as you’d expect from a Play ‘n GO slot. You’ll see mountains, temples and mountain ranges in a mix of imagery from each of the 4 mythological eras. Symbols include A, K, Q, J and 10 royals as well as 4 gods – in ascending order, you’ll see Wukong, Anubis, Athena and Thor.

The Thor symbol is the most valuable of the gods with 3, 4 or 5 in combination rewarding you with 2, 8 or 16 times your stake respectively. The mighty sword symbol is the wild and substitutes for all symbols – it can appear stacked during 1 of the bonus features (more info below). 3, 4 or 5 wilds will give you 2.5, 10 or 20 times your stake. Winning combinations are formed by getting 3 or more matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from reel 1.

Multiplier Reel feature

You will notice there is a Multiplier Reel above the reels – randomly on any spin, a multiplier between 2x and 10x can be applied to your winning combinations. This is known as the Multiplier Reel feature.

Free Spins feature

There’s also a Free Spins feature which is played when you get 3 scatters (represented by all 4 gods’ symbols) simultaneously in the base game. You then choose 1 fo the gods to represent you in battle – the chosen god will then appear to the left-hand side of the reel set with the battle reel spinning.

The battle reel then determines whether or not you battle 1 of the other gods or if you get a free spin. Beginning with 3 lives, the battle reel landing on the SPIN icon will give you a free spin. The Multiplier Reel feature can come into play on the free spins too to help proceedings.

If the battle reel lands on another god, you go to battle – the gods fill the battle reels with symbols. The god with the most symbols will be victorious. A free spin with the chosen power feature is then played. If a battle is lost, you’ll lose a life and a free spin plays out with the opposing god’s power active. With 3 lives awarded initially, the free spins will end when all lives are lost.

Divine Showdown thoughts

The Divine Showdown slot certainly looks good and I love the fact it combines gods from 4 mythological eras. High variance, you can win up to 5,000 times your stake on each spin or free spin – the potential 10x multiplier from the Multiplier Reel feature is key obviously.

I like the way the Free Spins feature plays out – with each of the gods appearing, I would opt for Thor each time as the Thor symbol is the highest value and represents the best winning potential. Saying that, Wukong can add wild reels which helps.

Overall, Divine Showdown is another superb online slot from Play ‘n GO which looks great, has a variety of bonus features and offers big win potential.
