Captain Glum: Pirate Hunter Bonus Features

Captain Glum: Pirate Hunter boasts 3 main bonus features. This includes the Permanent Wild feature, the Captain’s Due wild feature, and a Free Spins round. The latter comes with a pick-and-click bonus game too.

Permanent Wild Feature

In the base game, reels 2-4 are outlined in gold. Within this section, a Ship wild will land on every spin, helping you to create wins.

Doing as it says on the tin, the permanent wild will remain on the reels, moving around the golden section. It substitutes for all other regular symbols.

Captain’s Due Feature

If you land 1 or 2 scatters on there reels, the Captain’s Due feature may trigger. One scatter is selected at random and the Permanent Wild moves to replace it. As the Permanent Wild travels into position it leaves extra Wilds in its wake.

Wake Wilds also substitute for all other regular symbols, giving you plenty of chances to win big.

Free Spins Feature

If you land 3+ scatters in the base game, you trigger the Free Spins round. You receive 10 free spins, played out on new reels.

On the new layout, you’ll find the Captain’s ship at the bottom of the screen, and the Pirate’s ship at the top. This is called the Broadside feature. On each spin, these ships fire at each other, destroying the other’s hulls and expanding the game layout. Destroy all the hulls and you extend the play area to a 5 x 5 position grid.

Cannons can also destroy parts of ships. For each part of the ship destroyed, you’ll see a score added to the Pirate Hunters vs Pirates scoreboard to the right of the reels. If the Pirate Hunters have the higher score at the end of free spins, you trigger the Treasure Hunt feature.

The Treasure Hunt feature is a simple pick-and-click bonus game. Simply choose 1 of 3 treasure chests to reveal a multiplier of 2, 3 or 10 x. This is then applied to the total win of the free spins round.

Captain Glum: Pirate Hunter Review Summary – Destroy the Pirate Ship to win big

Captain Glum: Pirate Hunter is a great-looking slot. The graphics are excellent and quite inoffensive. If you’re fed up of dark and serious slots, then Captain Glum’s cheery graphics and jibes could be for you.
In terms of gameplay, the Permanent Wild symbol does a lot of the heavy lifting in the base game. It often creates a winning combination and, if it also leaves Wake Wilds on the reels, you can land sizeable wins.

The real action begins in the Free Spins round, though this is hard to trigger. Harder still is managing to blast enough hulls and ship parts to get your hands on the multiplier prizes. If you do manage to enter the Treasure Hunt feature, however, this is your best chance at coming anywhere near those 9,000 x bet max wins.

Overall, whilst Captain Glum: Pirate Hunter might look playful, it is a high volatility title. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but neither is catching pirates. If you’re brave enough to take to the seas, this is a decent Play’n GO release.
